Tutorial: How to play UMD based games off of your memory stick

How to play UMD based games off of your memory stick

All references to K: should be replaced with your PSP's own drive letter. The loaders come from various people in #pspx on efnet. Tutorial by Knighted and tested on his 1.50 US PSP.

Coded Arms with Wipeout Pure UMD
Lumines no UMD required
Puzzle Bobble with Wipeout Pure UMD
Mercury with Ridge Racer UMD

Coded Arms

1. From inside of your Coded Arms ISO, extract the PSP_GAME folder to your hard drive.
2. Rename PSP_GAME to CODED_A
3. Move CODED_A from your hard drive to K:
4. Extract PSP and CODED_A from Coded_Arms_New_Dir-Mosimo.rar to K:, saying yes to replacing files
5. Insert Wipeout Pure UMD and then start Coded Arms from your memory stick

Lumines (Note: Lumines is not playable with sound yet. This is normal. You really should buy it, anyway.)

1. From inside of your Lumines ISO, extract the PSP_GAME folder to your hard drive.
2. Rename PSP_GAME to PSP_LUMI
3. Move PSP_LUMI from your hard drive to K:
4. Extract PSP_LUMI from LOADERSbydmitrifixedbyalpha.zip and copy it to K:, saying yes to replacing files
5. Extract the LUMINes% and Lumines folders from inside LOADERSbydmitrifixedbyalpha.zip and place them in K:PSPGAME
6. Start Lumines from your memory stick. No UMD required.

Puzzle Bobble

1. From inside of your Puzzle Bobble ISO, extract the PSP_GAME folder to your hard drive.
2. Rename PSP_GAME to PUZZLBBL
3. Move PUZZLBBL from your hard drive to K:
4. Extract PUZZLBBL from PSP_Tri_Loader.zip and copy it to K:, saying yes to replacing files
5. Extract the PUZZBB~1% and PUZZBBL 1 folders from inside PSP_Tri_Loader.zip and place them in K:PSPGAME
6. Insert Wipeout Pure UMD and then start Puzzle Bobble from your memory stick

Mercury

1. From inside of your Mercury ISO, extract the PSP_GAME folder to your hard drive.
2. Rename PSP_GAME to MERCURY_
3. Move MERCURY_ from your hard drive to K:
4. Extract boot.bin from Mercury_Loader_Dir_Change.zip and copy it to K:MERCURY_SYSDIR, saying yes to replacing files
5. Extract the Mercur~1% and Mercury 1 folders from either the 1.0 or 1.5 folder (choose the one appropriate to your firmware version) inside Mercury_Loader_Dir_Change.zip and place them in K:PSPGAME
6. Insert Ridge Racer UMD and then start Mercury from your memory stick
7. IF IT DOESN'T WORK: Go into K:PSPGAME and first rename Mercury 1 to Mercury and then rename Mercur~1% to Mercury%. Yes, the order you rename them in matters, no I don't know why this is sometimes a necessary step. Thanks to |FrAg| for the tip.
