British Councillor links knife crime issue to violent video games
A recent undercover mystery shopper investigation which involved two 16-year-olds trying to buy 18+ rated video games and knives from stores in Plymouth has sparked a fresh debate about video game violence. Five out of nine Plymouth shops sold 18+ games to teens while only 2 out of 25 stores sold them knives. Councillor Michael Leaves, Cabinet Member for Streetscene and Environmental Regulation, commented on the findings saying that he believes violent games must have a detrimental influence on any children who play them and that he wouldn't be surprised if there was a link between the games and the knife crime issue.
