Gamer demands money back due to region locked friend codes on Wii

A rather disgruntled reader from the USA mailed in to let us know about his annoying online experience with Mario Strikers Wii. He's been trying to play a game against a friend in Finland but unfortunately when they try to play each other they both get an error indicating the friend code is incorrect. He appreciates the value in blocking regions from doing random online battles but to block known friends is just ridiculous he claims and wants his money back.

The built-in Wi-Fi Connection of the Wii is cool......in theory.

In reality it has it's share of BIG problems.

Nintendo didn't learn a thing from watching Microsoft and the success of the Xbox Live community. In orderto add a friend to play them online you both have toadd a friend to your address book by typing in a
16-digit string of numbers... OK fine. I can deal with that.

I thought that would be the end of it if I wanted to play my friend in Mario Strikers Charged, but I had to enter in another 12-digit code just to do that. However we both just found out that the WFC for online game play is region-locked so we can't even ADD each other to our friends list to play! L A M E. We both get the "This friend code is incorrect" error.

I'm based in the US and he's in Finland. It would be nice if they blocked regions from doing the random online battles, but to completely block known friends? That's rediculous. I want my money back.
