DRNFFFFFF/CTA updater errors: the definitive explanation
These errors are generated by the hidden updater module sceChkDegeneration, used to detect a patched IdStorage on a TA-082
In order to help you guys out, here's a list of the errors so you can work out what needs to be done to fix your PSP.
DRNFFFFFFD8 = key 0x4 missing
DRNFFFFFFD7 = key 0x4 header is not "n y r B" (in hex: 6E 79 72 42)
DRNFFFFFFCE = key 0x5 missing
DRNFFFFFFCD = key 0x5 header is not "g k l C" (in hex: 67 6B 6C 43)
* to fix this, get KeyCleaner -> HERE <- then let it clean key 5, run it again and tell it to UNPATCH key 5
DRNFFFFFFC4 = key 0x6 missing
DRNFFFFFFC3 = key 0x6 header is not "r d D M" (in hex: 72 64 44 4D)
Additional checks in TA-086:
DRNFFFFFFB9 = key 0x7 header is not "D a P A" (in hex: 44 61 50 41)
DRNFFFFFFB0 = key 0x8 missing
DRNFFFFFFAF = key 0x8 header is not "p D C L" (in hex: 70 44 43 4C)
* to fix this, get IdStorage Manager and click HERE
CTA80000025 = region key (0x100) is damaged or missing (irrecoverable unless you have a backup)
Most of these problems can be fixed using the excellent KeyCleaner and IdStorage Manager by Chilly Willy.
Feel free to share other solutions here but do NOT upload the keys themselves as they are copyrighted data.
Other errors:
FFFFFFFE = critical error at the end of the update - flash1 related, try restoring default settings

Initially I had error: DGNFFFFFFCE
Used the Key Cleaner to fix it, now getting error DGNFFFFFFCD, and have used both the Key Cleaner and ID Manager, neither of which offered a solution.

DGNFFFFFFCD = key 0x5 missing
DGNFFFFFFCE = key 0x5 header is not "Clkg"
You'll need to handle both those errors at once.
Use IdStorage Manager editor to create key 5, then go into it and set the first 4 bytes to .

Thanks, but this is getting way to complicated for a little firmware update, at the risk of bricking my PSP, I think I'll stick with 3.71, thanks though.

deadmoshun:
1) Set up Despertar del Cementario -
http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=94439
2) Set up ELF Menu 0.3a - http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=83119
3) Install nandTool 0.3 to the ELF folder - http://nds.cmamod.com/2007/12/05/nan...scemm8-03-beta (use the nousb one, its easier to set up)
4) Start PSP and you'll get to the ELF menu, choose nandTool 0.3
5) Make a NAND dump
6) Go to the OTHER menu and choose to repartition.
7) Exit back to the ELF menu and choose resurrection.elf which you should have copied from ms0:/kd to ms0:/elf - this is the original Des. Cem menu. Install 3.71 M33 here
8) Install 3.80M33 as normal
Carlotta_Monroe:
Really, it's not risky editing those keys if you're already getting those errors as it means they're broken to start with :P If you have a NAND dump made with Pandora before doing anything you're guaranteed to be fine.

Use keycleaner and unpatch key 5 (remove chilly willy's patch) and problem solved. It did it for me.

Small typing error))). Not "Bryn", and "nyrB" (6E797242)
key 0x5 - ".klC" (986B6C43) at CFW OE/3.5x M33 Patched; "gklC" (676B6C43) at CFW 1.5/3.7X M33 Unpatched.
end etc. It that, was the encryption?

Well yeah, in fact all of them are reversed due to the PSP processor being little endian.
edit: Reversed them now, since if you have to edit them manually thats what they'll need to look like
