An alternative to the Wii Zapper - 2 in 1 combined accessory
If you can't wait two months for the official Wii Zapper to come out then perhaps the following alternative will tickle your fancy as displayed at Brando. This alternative takes the usual approach of the gun in the front and nunchuk in the back but this version also detaches into a pistol only version.

Zapper attachments are a bad idea. The wiimote works more like a presentation mouse, than an NES zapper.
When you aim the "gun", your cursor will probably be nowhere near the actual target, thus, miss.
Wonder if ther'll ever be way to "calibrate" where the cursor is in comparison to where you're pointing. Like touching the X's in the corners on a DS touch screen.

does anyone else think this device looks better than the nintendo one:
the trigger is a real trigger and is closer to the nunchuck, more like a real gun and also the nunchuck is closer ti the wiimote, not miles away!

aaaaa...
How do you hit the "a" button? That's the only thing I don't like about it... so games don't let you map the buttons.

I believe they can do a calibration method if they wanted to. All you do is aim into the corners then center and it uses those coordinates as the box surrounding your TV. Arcades that use the same method of pointing do it so there is no reason the Wii can't too

i prefer this over the official zapper, too. it would have been better if they had attached the nunchuk to the side of the pistol and not the end of it. like the one i saw for time crisis 4 on ps3, was it?
edit: like this one:

Actually if you ever played Red Steel on the Wii you would already know there is a calibration It is so cleverly hidden that most people probably do not even realize exactly what they are doing
