Pandora (as of now) does NOT work on PSP Slim

I was at PAX this weekend and they had the PSP slim tethered to some hired "promo girls". I was hoping to talk to some actual Sony reps, but there were none. Of course, after I realized that there were no Sony reps there, I nicely asked the girl if I could "try if my battery worked on the slim". I had Pandora's battery & the hacked memory card on me so I figured why the hell not. I had tested them on a normal PSP and they work like a charm... but on the slim it does not work (yet). I turned the unit off and took out the UMD, put in my memory stick, then Pandora. The battery tried to load something, but I just got a blank screen. Hopefully this just means that the battery works, but the memory stick needs a tweak, but I can't be sure... all I do know is that it won't work as it stands right now.

I'm pretty sure they flashed a few times, but it was very busy and I was sort of trying to do it without drawing too much attention... you Americans have crazy laws (DMCA) so I wanted to get it done asap.

She was ok.

If light flashed... unsigned code run

Well not totally unsigned, as the ipl is partially signed... but by us not by Sony

I guess MS light is supposed to flash no matter what (even if you insert a blank MS), because the service mode always needs to access MS at the beginning.

What we need to know is if the WLAN light flashes (right...?).

The memory stick led flash is something done artificially by software by Sony.
At the beginning of execution, the Sony module that does that is not there, so access to MS doesn't flash unless the Sony modules "msstor.prx" and "mscm.prx" are loaded, and I bet that psp slim would crash much before those modules are loaded, it would probably crash at some point of the ipl.

So I suppose this is the conclusion we can draw so far.

- The way to trigger service mode for PSP Slim is basically unchanged.

- Some security features in PSP Slim have been revised (hardware-wise). It may be a new revision of motherboard, or perhaps more.

if it doesnt work though, without an exploit how will they be able to find out how to correct pandors battery.

they may brick any number of slims to get it working, but then they can just unbrick them when they do get it working

If we can make it crash with Pandora battery that could mean that this would work with a couple of changes. But crash doesn't always mean exploit

The big question is, how are we going to get a PSP slim firmware dump when they carn't run homebrew. If we had a dump we could see what's changed in there. This thing is going to be a tough one to crack Plus theres no modchip for it since it's a new motherboard, and I bet there never will be a modchip for it since with the redeisgn sony may have removed any room for extra stuff inside it.

I am shure there might be an exploit in the photo browser or something like that again
