custom jewel question
I'm gonna be backlighting my jewel and I want to create a logo to put in place of the nintendo one, but it's not going to be completely solid. I'll basically just have a picture on it but it'll be clear around the picture. In other words, it's not going to take up all the room so there will be part of the jewel that will be clear. Now, my question is, how do I get my picture to stay in place? Do I glue the paper onto the jewel? Obviously, I don't want the glue to be seen if I need to use it. Anyone know what I need to do?

This is just a thought, if you take the factory jewel out (assuming you have the non-sticker one), then you should be able to spilt it in half, you can then gently scrape or clean of with CLR or some solvent the NGC logo/words. Then if you print your image or what ver tou want with the white space actually not being there you should be able to just get it to stay in place either using thouse little tiny bottles of liquid super glue for like security mounts, or if you staticly charge the paper (or transpareny) you should be able to get the static elec to hold it in place long eoung to reattach your hewel and then perhaps reinforce it with something on the back end where it will be unscene.

Do you mean split the clear plastic part from the black plastic backing part? If so, I've already done that; the black part is useless to me now.
If I was gonna use glue, I was thinking some kind of glue stick. Any idea what kind to use? I might even paint it using a template.

Here is an idea:
Print your image on a transparancy sheet (with enough space around it to cover the entire jewel so you can attach it somewhere outside). Now the problem is that the white is missing in the picture. To solve that, print the picture again mirrored on label-paper. You might do this in black/white low quality, as long as you can see the outlines of the picture, (but maybe you should do it full quality since there will be lots of light around). Then cut the picture out of the label and stick it to the backside of the picture printed on the transparancy sheet.
(surely it depends on what kind of picture you use in how doable this is)
too bad you can't print onto the glued side of label-paper, the printer would probably jam

great glue for case and jewel modding
attached is a picture of what I think is the best glue for what you want to do. Its very liquidy, its inexpensive, and it drys almost invisible.
I think you should be able to buy it or something close to it at like a 99cents store. but if you goto a hardware store you should be able to find something that looks dman close.

Awesome! Thank you sir. You are a lifesaver. I'll definitely try that out
And thanks to everyone else for trying to think of a solution. I'll let everyone know how it goes when I'm done.

when glueing, watch out for little bubbles between the foil and the glue, since the glue is very liquid, bubbles will appear very fast and they will look ugly when the glue drys

And it's much appreciated. Thanks, I'll definitely watch out for that
On a side note, I used brasso to get the paint off of the jewel and it's not as easy as some said. I scrubbed really hard and I still had to do it about 4 times. Despite this though, it gives excellent results. It's not blurry and it doesn't cause scratches. So overall I definitely recommend it.

another good one for cleaning jewels is
car brake disc cleaner (do this outside ), get a rubbing cloth, spray some of the disc cleaner on it, let it settle for about 10 seconds, then rub, the paint etc will literally fall off, once cleaned quickly wash the jewel under running water, as if you leave it too long it can clocd the jewel, if it does cloud simply get your dremel with buffing wheel on, set it to low rpm and watch it clear
i use this method on xbox jewels, havent tried on a GC jewel

lol, sorry
its hard to tell as a lot of people post what stuff to use in different countrys etc and certain brand arent heard of in different countrys etc.
but before now ive used meths (methelated spirits), this works but not as good as car brake disk cleaner. also meths will cloud your jewel, but dont worry buffing gets it 100% , just make sure you use low RPM otherwise it will melt the plastic and theres no way of clearing it like that

It's cool man; don't worry about it The brasso worked well; it just took a while.
Yeah, it would be pretty difficult to fix melted plastic - lol

search for window cling kits. They're those things that are like latex that stick to the windows and are partially clear. You can get kits to make em somewhere.
