Im a noob at ps2 hacking so...

I've never done a ps2 hack yet and was wondering how to hack without mod chips. So is there a way to burn a program on a cd or something with a usb flash drive thing so you can do something cool with your ps2 that way. I noticed the ps2 had a flash drive inserter.

The slim PS2s need either a modchip, or something like the ActionReplay that will load homebrew from USB sticks.

For the fat PS2s, you have a variety of things, from swap discs to modchips to AR to the Independence Day Exploit. The IDExploit is cool because it allows you to run an app from the memory card with just a PS1 disc. The way that works is when you insert a PS1 disc in the PS2, it checks a special file in the memory card. A buffer overflow was found in that routine so that when a certain PS1 game was found (can be any game), the buffer overflow would execute code that started a file on the memory card. I have mine set to run uLaunchELF, which in turn lets me run homebrew off the USB, CDVD, harddrive, or across the ethernet.

You can get the latest PS2 Exploit Made Easy from this page: http://ps2dev.org/ps2/Loaders

You can get a toolchain for compiling homebrew for the PS2 at ps2dev as well.
