Xbox 360 Update how do you tell

I know this has been brought up before but I find it a bit confusing, what are all the different ways in which you can tell if you 360 is updated. I havn't been hooked up to Xbox live. Can someone please help me?

I don't know of any way, it doesn't have an OS number like the original Xbox did. If it's brand new, you're probably not completely up to date. You can now get the updates from Xbox.com to burn on a CD and update that way.

It does

System -> Console Settings -> System Info

I don't think they really could have made the menu much more intuitive than that.
