another xcm case review

I'm gonna do a small review since i got the xcm case some days ago and have only seen one review of it, so here it goes...

When i was about to install the case i did not get it to fit, after about 20-30 minutes i noticed that the viper chip was too big so the case would not go all the way down(wonder how they can call it a viper case when there's no room for the chip). anyways, i had to remove the laser unit and stuff ,then i put the chip behind the front panel and i got the case to fit.
There was no problem gTetting it all the way down, since it was not warped and it was square as the original case, and the plastic had very good quality. Neither have i had any problems with the eject button popping up or anything like that. One bad thing was that the "jewel" was just a sticker with the viper logo on it, when pressed down the led thing starts to rotate and stuff, it's not the 240 led case btw..
i also noticed that it had the same fins as the early hushtrap cases had, so to be able to fit it on a dol-101 one you need to cut them off.
The lid was really good, except that it did not have the soft eject, but that is not a big deal.
One thing that really bugged me was that there is actually no room for putting your fingers when you're about to remove the disc, i guess i'm lycky that i have quite small fingers, but someone with big hands will probably have a hell to get the disc out.
The taps for holding the filter was also there, so you'll be able to use the filter from the original case.

I really like this case, it's good quality, looks awesome and easy to install, the only big downside was that there's no room for the chip and difficult to get out the disc, but if you need to get a full-size dvd case or just want your cube to look cool, then you should take a look at this one!

by the sounds of it..it seems to have all the problems of the hushtrap lid..which i dont think are big deals.

if your camera supports it try some macro shots (little flower icon on camera), but you`ll need good light and the camera to be steady, but this will give a good clear shot.

The case should fit the chip i would of thought, did you try using some double sided tape to hold the chip in position whilst fitting the lid?
(I`m goin off the normal position of the chip as in near the fan chassis, as even the original cases wont fit if the chip gets in the way), just a thought.

i tried something similar, and the problem is that the xcm case has got some extra plastic tabs inside, so there's no way the chip will fit...
but, putting it behind the panel worked fine.

ps. cant find a macro on this shitty cam, it's a Trust one :P

Where sir did you purchase it from?

Possibly your chip wasn't in the right location or was loose?

Glad to see it's not some "HushCrap"!!!

Yes using a sticker like the HushCrap cases make me sad :(

Have you compared the size the fins to the size of the HushCrap case? Have you indeed verified it will not fit on a DOL-101?

That bites ...

How about a picture of the fins and where you have to mount your chip?

On a side not as I expected the apparent attempt to make the Team Xtender cases look like crap by one of our local members failed. I'm glad to see an unbiased review on an unaltered case.

I thought it was a great review and hope the cases I get for review have the same quality.

i would like to see more pics with better lighting. also one with a fullsize dvd in so i can see how much room there is to get out. it actually looks like theres less room then the hushtrap lids. which is pretty nuts..cause those cases are fairly tight. if you could take the lid off and take a pic of the insides that would be really helpfull so we can see the fins at the back that you have to cut off..pretty interested in this..cause my hushtrap didnt need to be modified at all..it does have some fins..but so does my original case, as well as the ones interfering with the viper. how is the texture of the case? my hushtrap feels exactly like the original case..these look like its completely different plastic..a lot smoother..is that the case or is it just the pics? also where did you get it and how much are they? oh one last thing. how does the lid close and open? does it open at the same speed as the original? and when you close it..is it as smooth and easy as the original?

dunno, i think there is one case with just some leds in the lid, and the other one is the case with the 240 disco led thingy..

plan-9:
The plastic feels like the original case, i think it's just the quality of the picture that is lying, and the lid does not open smoothly like the original case, it just pops up.

brakken: i bought it from www.modpiiri.com, a
finnish store. and no, i have not confirmed that it does not fit on a dol-101 unit, i have only seen pics of the old hushtrap cases, and mine looks similar.

sorry, cant get any pics of the fins, cos small details will just appear as blur on the pics taken with this shitty cam :/
i'll have to think of some other way to get them...

this was the best one i could take of the disc in the lid... as you should be able to see, there is only a small room for getting the disc out
