wiikey + overheating GPU = Nintendo no fix?

So lately my wii has had those static black lines. I've read up on it and people say it is due to an overheating GPU. I have had my Wii since launch. WiiConnect24 on since then also. I installed a wiikey about 1 month ago and everything works fine. Recently noticed some black static lines. Will Nintendo be able to fix it even thought i have a wiikey? I know i have to pay since i opened up the Wii and it voids warranty. Here is a video of what it looks like. (it is not my video but problem is similiar) http://youtube.com/watch?v=xdWnsw3Yckc

What if i buy the extended warranty from target and just get a new wii? Then reinstall the wiikey?

update on pg.2

If you open it, uninstall the chip and put it back together. Who is going to know that it had been chipped? If its still under warranty send it back and get it fixed for free, then reinstall?

Well, that would be assuming he didn't hax up the plastic screw covers, scratch the case and can restore the solder on the pads/points and all the case parts to factory condition. I think it would be very difficult to make a chip uninstall or even case opening unnoticable. They are going to look for a reason to not do a free repair... I'd just bite the bullet, call the support line, tell them you've opened the case, but apparantly have a bad gpu. Ask them if they'll fix it and what's the cost. In any case, uninstall the chip before sending it in..

Maybe your heatsink is loose or you need to add some arctic silver and re-seat the heatsink.
It is impossible to design an idiot-proof device, because nature continues to develop better idiots.

You can pay $100 (I think that's what it costs) to get it fixed up and a new warranty with it. I would try uninstalling the wiikey and if you did a good job installing it and removing it it should be pretty damn hard to tell it was ever there. You might be able to get them to fix it that way without paying $100.

If you screwed up and had to solder to a chip leg or something then you may not be able to get them to fix it, but it doesn't hurt to try...

Seeing how people are getting away with sending in bricked modded 360's and getting new ones back you may have a shot.
PS3: 60GB - No mods
Wii: Cyclowiz
XBOX 360: NME-360 V2
PS2: DMS4 Pro
XBOX: Xecuter 2
PSP: 3.80 M33
DS: CycloDS Evolution

I screw up my wii while installing mod chip. broke a few pins on the D2B chips as well. used flat screw driver to open up the tri-wing screw.

I was expecting to pay for the DVD replacement, but they repair my wii without any charge.

Here's something to think about....

I would imagine (just based on the number of posts on these boards) that there's been a fairly large number of Wiis returned to Nintendo. I have a real hard time believing that they open every single one and check the solder points. That's just my opinion as I've not had to send any in. I guess you take a chance if you lie to them and tell them it's not been modded. As someone else on here mentioned, those stickers seem to get bitched up pretty easily from the ones I've worked with.
Stupid quote section...

i would just send it in.

the worst thing that can happen is that they tell you that they wont repair it for free because it was obviously your fault. most propably, they will then offer you a repair for some dollars. its not that reggie will come to your house and kick your ass, you know
