Simple Case mod idea

There's some good guides on how to cut your gamecube case to allow use of full size DVD's, but out of all the ones I've seen the best solution for the lid was to cut a hole in it and hold it up while switching the discs, which is a pain, especially with the short time limit you get to switch the discs. (at the time I wrote this there weren't any no-swap bios's) What I did works pretty well for me, I put the spring and gear back onto the lid so the lid would hold itself up, then I took the piece of plastic used to hold the lid in place before the mod and cut it down to what you see in the pictures below, which I screwed into the front of my case so it could be slid over the lid to lock it into place.

With my modded gamecube I have to be careful not to press the lid down too far when I'm closing it because there's nothing stopping it, which is anoying and could hurt my games or my gamecube. I imagine I'm not the only one with this problem so here's what I did to fix that. You can take a soldering iron and melt some little pieces of plastic into your case to prevent it from going to far and making the process that much easier. The piecies of plastic I used were ones I shaved off the piece I used for the lid lock, although since you're modding your gamecube case you're probably not in a shortage of little pieces of plastic. Anyway, close the lid and lock it into place, now take a couple very small pieces of plastic (the bigger they are, the more in the way they'll be) and put them at the front corners of the lid opening, I put mine to the inside of the buttons, then melt the plastic of the gamecube and piece of plastic together as much as possible to make sure it's connected well, than open the lid and melt the top of the piece of plastic in place and melt the pieces down a little if your lid doesn't close even or not enough. (careful if melting plastic around your buttons, I'd recommend doing it on either side of them to avoid damaging them)

(looking at these macro shots of my handywork I think I need to clean it up a little. I did all my cutting with a soldering iron, that's why the edges are so rough, if you don't have a dremel tool like me it works well enough, but BE CAREFUL OF THE BUTTONS, I was trying to be and I still melted my reset button a little)
