Serious Sam port... Need people.
Well I'm doing some looking around, I found that the game Serious Sam has source code available at their download site, So I want to find some people who might help me work on a Serious Sam port. I have no experience with porting games what so ever so I kinda need the help. Unless some has already done this than thats cool tool. Hook me up with their site if anyone else did this.

Is this an April Fools' joke? I really don't think the DS is capable of running the Serious Sam engine.

Serious Sam uses a completely different graphic system than doom 3, most monsters are a basic 2d to 3d renders so I don't know what your talking about.... I'm talking about the old game
this

not this

Serious Sam has simplified rendering system making it the prime for a port.
fuckin noobs... I just want to try to get this to work... and I get the noobs response.
Another thing is that the game has simplified graphics compared to Quake and Quake 2 engine which the game is partly based on.
This post before hand from me was before april 1st.

CS is one game too, but it has been mentioned before. Maybe not here but else where... Too bad I don't see anyone working on it.

Sorry man..I didn't mean to get you pissed, it's just that if the ds can't run The Curse of monkey island because of RAM limitations, then how could it run a port of the Serious Sam engine which the min sys requirements are:
AMD K6 400Mhz ,PII,or Celeron-A 300 Mhz
128 MB of RAM.......

Agreed. It's not going to work and is just wishful thinking on the original poster's behalf. Even if it does run, it'll look buttugly and be more laggy than someone playing TFC on 28.8k in Antartica.

It's about programing so the devices in the DS are taken advantage of you don't realize the true potential until it slaps you in the face. It is a matter of programming for it to work even more efficiently than what it is. You don't use memory on the DS... It may have memory but the DS isn't design that way, it's it designed to store and take information, Information that it runs is store in the card... than the memory on the DS stores the information for the job so it locates information on the card, this is similar to virtual memory... the person who is working on the Quake port is realizing it very fast as they started moving it over to Quake 2, and I'm guessing they are doing something like this now. Another thing is the max information on that can be used like virtual memory on a card is in 32mb, thats why lots of games come in 16,32,64,128mb sizes to allow swapping of files so basically the DS has a lot of potential not used by most homebrew developers.

Quake may have been ported to the DS, but I wouldn't be caught dead comparing the Serious Sam engine to the original Quake engine. Have you ever played Quake and Serious Sam? With Quake, you may as well be playing Doom... in fact...
