Wiikey Install, worked 1st day. Now not working
Hey guys, i'm getting a weird problem i was hoping someone could help me shed some light. So last night i installed the Wiikey. I tested it before putting the cover back on and everything worked. Sweeeeet. I secured all the points with a hot glue gun (even the chip itself), waited until it hardend, then put cover back on. After everything was all assembled (2AM) i tested it one last time before bed and everything was working again no problem. I set the time and checked the Wifi (Trial Opera Web Browser) and everything was working peechy. This morning, i decided to test another game and i got a DRE (Disc read error).. so i figured maybe just a bad burn. I download the Wiikey util tool and burned it. I stuck it in my Wii and again, DRE. So i put in the games that worked last night and to my surprise, DRE! Now nothing works. I didn't do anything. I know i wasn't delirious last night and for sure it worked just 6 hrs ago. Now in the morning it's not working. I tested Original games and they work without a hitch. I am so not looking forward to opening my wii to check out the soldering points. Any thoughts or suggestions that could help me get past this problem? Please help!

I had the same problem.
Sometimes my backups worked and than one our later the wii didn't want to read them anymore.
Solution for me: Burn on a other dvd-burner.
I had an msi-burner and now have a lite-on.

i have had a few probs with dre also. I found that either powering down after the error (holding the power button for 7secs or so) and then powering up and trying again fixed it. If not, i'd pull the power cord for a few secs, then plug back in and try it again would work.
Hope this helps.

Some suggestions for DRE's :
1. Use different media
2. Burn at 4x / 6x
3. Use a different burner.
4. Use different software.
I use a lite-on burner burning at 6x with magnavox DVD+R (and HP DVD+R) and NERO
Not a single problem yet .. and this is with crappy media.

did you leave a game in the drive? Like when you turned the console off did it have a game in? If it did, alot of people are having the same problem as you. They leave the disk in, and turn the console back on and to their surprise it doesnt work anymore. I dont know what is the problem, but this seems to be the main cause.

I have tried everything I can think of(new disks, new burner, new software) and nothing seems to be working
If it is cause I left a disk in the Wii how can I fix it?
Even my WiiKey setup disk doesn't work
Should I open my Wii and check it out?

Do originals work???
If so then the chip might have lost a connection. Did you happen to maybe hit it or drop the Wii?? I tested my chip before closing up my system and it worked fine. As I was screwing it back together I had it on its side and it moved and fell over. Caused a wire to fall off. Originals worked but nothing else did.
And leaving the disc in should not cause any problems. I do it and have no problems.

orginals still work
maybe when I took out gamecube controller I may of hit it, but I don't think that could knock the chip off
I guess I'll have to open it up and look
