Wiikey's 6 Contacts

Hi All,

Might be a bit of a strange question but does anyone know specifically what each of Wiikey's 6 contacts do?

I'm asking because I'm sure contact number 3 (top left in the arch) wasn't touching the Wii's board after soldering (I called it a day at this point and screwed eveything back together). Yet, to my surprise, the Wiikey works fine! For it to work, is connecting all 6 contacts to your Wii essential - have I just fluked it?

Cheers
Nick

Just a guess, but maybe some part of the features won't work with one pin not connected?

I've checked everything and it all seems to be working! I've even updated the chip via the DVD. Am I just seeing things (I have to admit, the solder was was very close) or is this contact 3 (maybe more?) really optional?!

Thats interesting.

Cyclowiz doesnt use contact 3 at all, so why is the wiikey using this contact ? I first thought it is needed for the update of the chip but if you say you can update your wiikey without contact 3 then what is it good for ?

Edit: Maybe its because of the SD disc backup application !?
