2.80 (ta-082 and ta-086) Downgrader {Release} Corruption free ~

This tutorial is only for Ta-082 or Ta-086 2.80 downgrading to firmware 1.5.
Use this at your own risk. Its always possible to break your psp.

Special thanks to Chilly Willy for taking the time to code this

To verify you have a Ta-082 or Ta-086 see the picture below.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PSP CHARGER IN AT ALL TIMES!
Donot power off During downgrade!
Donot use fake memory cards to downgrade or upgrade see link below to identify fakes.
http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=651
Note: If at some point your screen goes black for more then a few seconds Hit the brightness
key gently a few times. Be careful not to bump the power or other buttons. In some cases the brightness goes to off.

==Instructions==

1. Before you start, format your memory stick and reset your default settings.
A. Format MS by going to System , Format Memory Stick. press X
B. Push down to restore Factory Settings

2. Download the official Sony 1.50 eboot and rename it to UPDATE.PBP, and put it in the
MSroot/PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder of this download with the name of UPDATE.PBP DO
NOT OVERWRITE PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP! Doing so will brick.
official Sony 1.5 eboot ** http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/43

3. Create a USB connection between your PSP and computer.

4. Copy the contents of the MS_root folder to your memory stick root, click yes to overwrite. Do
not put the readme on the psp.

5. Run HEN (see instructions from hen280 readme on the next line)
- Go to the PHOTO viewer of the XMB and enter in the folder "HEN_280".
- If the psp just freeze, reboot your psp and try again. Currently the tiff is very unstable and it is only executed sometimes.
- When you run the program, you'll see a coloured screen that can be one of two colors:
* Red: the files couldn't be written to the flash (it happens a few times). Just keep trying.
* Pale Blue: The files were written succesfully, and HEN is active. After that, the xmb will be
rebooted. Now you can run the homebrew in format prepared for 2.71. (see details below). Note
that a pale blue screen will appear again every time the PSP reboots with HEN active.

6. Execute the 1.5 enabler on the PSP. It needs 75% battery. It will verify/make your psp able to
run 1.5 and enable downgrading the TA-082 or TA-086 PSP.
**note 1.5 enabler will tell you if you can run 1.5 or not... if it says you cannot press x to alter keys, donot continue till it says your settings will run 1.5

7. The program will exit to the XMB. Now run the generic downgrade, which will show in the XMB
as “Update X.Yz” on the PSP.

8. The generic downgrader will also need 75% battery. IT will downgrade your PSP to 1.50.

9. At the end, it will ask you to press X to restart the PSP. Do it.

10. If all went fine, you’ll receive a blue screen telling you to press O. Do it, and re-enter your settings.

Welcome to 1.50.

FORMAT YOUR MEMORY STICK BEFORE DOING ANY THING ELSE>>>>>>>>>>>>

My Psp is now at 2.60 planning to upgrade to 2.80 but mine is not a TA-82 or TA-86 mine has no letter printing in the top right corner so is it still ok for me to use this to downgrade too. Want to go from 2.80 > 1.50 > 3.40-A so this should work right. Thanks for replying.

Any of the "corruption-free" downgraders will work fine with the TA-079/81. For firmware 2.71 or 2.80 and a TA-079/81, you simply skip the step that has you run 1.5 Enabler since the TA-079/81 will run 1.5 without needing to change the keys.

That was the only part of the original downgraders changed for the corruption-free ones - that step in changing the idstorage keys. The downgrading itself is unchanged.

2.80 -> 1.50 -> 3.40 OE-A will work fine. Just use the 2.80 corruption-free DG for that first part.

I want to downgrade from 2.80 to 1.50, then upgrade to 3.40 OE-A, should I get rid of HEN after downgrading? If so how do you do this because it writes the stuff to flash. Should I do it after the downgrade and before the upgrade to custom firmware or after?

My second question: is there a chance the downgrade will corrupt the network files like some of the downgraders for newer firmware versions?

First - Just format the memstick. That gets rid of all the files on it. The flash is not a problem because the downgrade got rid of anything done by HEN.

Second - What network files are you referring to? When you change firmwares, you should always reset the settings to default and then set things the way you like. Not sure if that's what you're talking about. The old soft-down for 2.71 and hard-downs (which is what the old soft-down was based on) change some keys that affected certain aspects of the USB and Remote Play. The corruption-free DGs don't. Don't know if that's what you're referring to either. You are just too vague on this question.

Thank you for your answer the first question, it was very helpful.

As for clarification on the 2nd question. in your tutorial for 3.03 downgrader, you said that after the downgrader finishes your network settings may be corrupted. Does this happen with the 2.80 downgrader as well?

"If it comes up saying that the settings are corrupt, press X to continue, this will mean you will need to re-enter the settings for network connections into your PSP."

I guess it doesn't matter, because I can just re-enter the settings if it does corrupt the settings. Just a curiosity.

That's all part of the reset settings to default (in the system settings of the xmb). The "may be corrupt" is just a little vague. What that part of the guide means is that Sony may change how the network settings are saved from one firmware revision to another, so depending on what firmware version you started with and what version of the OE you end up with, the network settings storage format may have changed and therefore the settings for the original firmware will show up wrong in the new firmware. That is cured by resetting the settings to the default, then setting the network settings all over again from scratch. Note that this MIGHT occur with any change of firmware, not just OE firmwares.

Format the memstick, reset the PSP settings to default, and set a custom wallpaper.

To idstoragefix or Chilly Willy:
A friend of my son has PSP_2.81 IC1003mobo, and I'd like to help him on downgrading to 1.50...
Everything that we need is downloading the files in the links presented on the first post?...
I mean the 1.50EBOOT and 2.80 ta082ta086 downgrader...
...and, of course, diligently follow step-by-step the instructions(!), and hope for good...

Or I have to search for somethin' else?
TIA...

2.81 is NOT 2.80, so this probably won't work. I do believe you'll need to go to 3.03 and use the 3.03 downgrader (with the unpatched GTA:LCS), or go to 3.50 and use the 3.50 downgrader (with Lumines)

But yes, if this WERE going to work, all you need is in the guide in the first post.

Chilly Willy, first thanks for your fast answer...
... but you said: 2.81 is NOT 2.80, so this probably won't work
This means PSP bricked?...or simply PROBABLY not working? In this case I could try without chance of brickin'?
