mmm so we could backup wii games by just using the drive of the wii itself connected with the pc? ... or is the lg drive needed to do so?

This tool is not for playing pirated games and reading them from a wii drive.
it works over the LPT Port which would take 2000 days or so to ump a whole disc.

Its more of use for Development, nothing too intersting for the "Enduser" but i had my fun with a similar tool hehe

Using this tool, and a copy of IDA-PRO and the MN102 plugins,
and the copies of the MN102 manuals, and deep understanding
of the Gamecube drive code, and lots of spare time on your hands,
and willing to risk becoming an HEX-GEEK, you should be able to
design your own version of the Wiinja or CycloWiz or Wiikey within
a few days or less than 2 weeks.
This tool has been around for a bit, and that is why so many chips
appeared so fast, and everyone is claiming they are clones of each
other.
I could easy enough produce my own chip also within 1 week,
but I too busy with other products, and the Wii itself here is
always sold-out so I really don't have time to stand out some
store waiting for a shipment.

correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't this be used to develop a drive flash like the xbox360 defeating the purpose of mod chips all together?

The problem is the firmware on Gamecube and the Wii is inside the controller chip, and uploaded into the internal ram, and then you can access the ram and make changes to it via the "lower-case" password and the debug serial port.
There is no firmware flashable chip, so you need something to hold the modded drive code and upload it via the serial port.
You could if you don't want to spend money on a chip and program it with designed code, just run a long cable from your Wii to your PC serial port, and evertime you turn-on the Wii, just upload the modded code from your PC.

I have an idea,
What about dumping the entire RAM with a original disk inserted, then dumping the entire RAM with a copy inserted, comparing both results and patching all different bytes?
Could that work? (It's probably more complicated, right?)

what does that help?
u only have access to the dvddrive ram, u have to dissable amd crack it...but well a cable to ur wii isnt a good soultuion u get easy out of sync errors when the console is not in standby modus and the cable cant be that long ... soo no real solution.
