Noticed a few strange and missing things?

I read all I could about them, and read their respective sites.
I can not find any info about DVD-RW.

Is the Wii drive a standard DVD drive, and can it read DVD-RW ?
If so, does current modchips support reading backups / upgrade from them? I would hate to waste a disc on a one time upgrade ... even though full size DVDs are dirt cheap.

Has anyone noticed both wiikey's and cyclowiz's sites says:
"The first and only upgradeable modchip"

Also, how much is fully upgradeable?
How much mem does the chips come with?
Will they allow you to put whatever code you want, or they will keep upgrade method UTS ?

I've seen Errant's dvdtool, which claims to interface directly with the dvd drive trough the pc... (I can't test it, I still have to buy my Wii :P)
Could this be used to do a software -> hardware mod ?

What say you?

Hey... it's only 25 cents... totally worth the upgrade. But when I get my Cyclowiz, I'll let you know if supports re-writables.

No idea... but undoubtedly someone will dump the chip and make it into what they want it to be. As of right now, the only thing I wished it did was play PAL disks on my NTSC system. If I have the dreaded D2B chip, I'd also like a fix for that too...

and as for Errant's Tool... I'm not sure what you're talking about. The only way that I know of that people are currently interacting with a dvd drive is dumping the games with a LG-8164b or LG-8163b or LG-8162b or LG-8161b dvd drive.

But hell, go out and buy a Wii. Pick a chip and get to work. The time is NOW!...

Quite a few more cents here in argentina, but I would hate wasting them anyway, not money-wise but resource-wise
