Installation Manual for CycloWiz now Available

Team Cyclops has now made available the installation manual for the CyloWiz (review). An external switch is needed to enter the programming mode, this way you are safeguarded about a mistaken flash. Secondly, the upgrade feature has also been created so that it will DEFINITELY not be detected by the Wii. You can order the CycloWiz now from North America ($39.99 / Germany / Spain or Italy.

An installation manual was added in the download section.

As you can see, an external switch is needed to enter or leave programming mode. This physically insures that the chip doesn't get flashed by mistake, or for some other reason. The upgrade feature was also made so it's not detectable by the Wii at all.

I think a new review is in order since now there's 2/3 different type of dvd controllers. I can see it now you purchase the mod and it don't support the new type of dvd drive and there going to tell you wait until we find a fix meanwhile the mod is useless.

But thats just my 2 cents. I'll continue to wait until the smoke blows over.

what about point ABC... how do we solder them with the wire - method...
cauze for G and V there are alternative solder spots, but not for the others...
do we have to solder the wires to the tiny little golden spots next to the quicksolder holes ?

i think you need glasses to read his question correctly, he is asking if there is alternate solder points for A,B,C (which are the 3 small quick solder points). The PDF mentions nothing pertaining to this, although i assume the 3 other points with the Z point will be alternate spots... Time will tell

Just solder the wires to the Quick solder points, it will do just the same as soldering them to an alternative point.....

ok, the update-method sucks hard. i dont want to have cables and a switch hanging out of my wii.

this chip died for me now.

does anyone know who its going to be with wiikey? will it also need a switch?
why does cyclowiz needs a switch in the first place?

Most likely, yes it will also need an external switch. Since the wii has no way of knowing there is a chip there and no way of programing it, you have to tell the chip to enter programing mode and to look for either a special format disc or a disc with certain files on it. The only way to do that, without modifying the bios, is via hardware, ie how the cyclowiz does it.

Well the on/off switch thing blows, but say you installed the chip without an on/off switch hanging out, would you really be missing out on a lot? I dont see how updates to a chip can be really useful in terms of adding useful features like booting up PAL or other region games... If this is the case i dont really care about the updates via DVD. Anyone know the possibility of a firmware update that disables the chip and then would require you to update it via dvd to make it work again? Thanks in advance
