Wiinja Mod Knocked for Six by Wii Hardware Design 'D2B'

There are reports circulating via the official Wiinja forums that there PIC based mod is not working on all Wii consoles. Wii units will either have a GC2-DMS chip or GC2-D2B chip, the latter hardware chip renders the Wiinja useless. Currently there is no external way of checking whether or not a Wii has which of the mentioned chipsets.

Ouch! That must have hurt for Wiinja!
Hope that the same doesn't go for the cyclowiz.
This is a real blow below the belt for wiinja, this and the no upgrade thing will make and certain death for the wiinja.

Could this GC2-D2B make the CycloWIZ also unusable?

Considering all 3 modchips are exactly the same code-wise (really, prove me wrong, there's no reason to believe otherwise), I'm sure it'll be the same story.

Upgradeability has nothing to do with this, if the chip doesn't work, but is upgradeable with a disc, the disc will not run cause the chip will not work. And if this true, I see absolutely no reason why it wouldn't be the same with Cycloshit and Wiikey, as they use all the same methods. So it's unfair to just tell this only about Wiinja, as this is the only one tested yet.

And now for the validity of this story, how many people exactly have this problem up till now? Just one or is it confirmed by others already?

This explains why CycloWiz have not posted install pics yet. They are probably scrambling to find out why their chip does not work like the others.

note: this information has not been confermed yet and its quite possiple that the CycloWiz may suffer from the same problem if this terns out to be real at all, but nothing has been confermed just yet

please dont tell me this 'news' article was based off of this thread on the official wiinja forums...

http://www.wiinja.com/Foros/viewtopic.php?t=11

sounds like it's very possible the guy just doesn't know how to install it properly. Oh well, I'm sure it will be cleared up soon.

I'm surprised though how fast MC jumped to post something negative from one guy's bad experience with the chip, I wonder why they would
