bad for the wii
there aren't that many 3rd party developers developing for the wii as it is. now with the ability to pirate games, i think there will be even less support.

i'll think i'll wait till we get an upgradable modchip.
This one you can't update with newer versions of firmware on it, so when nintendo does force you to update to play newer games, you have to desolder the chip and buy a new one.

I don't understand why this should not be updated after install. If it is truely a PIC you just have to attach some longer wires to the chip leading out of the console. Then attach those wires to a PIC programmer (those are like what 15$ diy kit, 25$ assembled) and start updating the thing when a new HEX comes out.
I'd say make the wires from the solder points go to an 8 pin socket outside the Wii. You can just swap a new PIC in or update the old one in a pic programmer.
In fact that's what I'm going to to next week. So when the HEX is read out and releases I'm only one PIC programming away from a working Wiinja clone for under 8$. Just found my never used USB programmer and ordered a Tri-Wing from e-bay.
Hope the wires don't get too long from the socket to the solderpoints.
What might be the best place to have the wires come out?
