DS Firmware Dumper

Loopy figured out how to read the firmware from the DS.

Here is a program to dump it in blocks of 64KB.

Talk all about it here!

does this mean firmware can/will be hacked and there will be some new firmware with additional features (is this possible?)

Possibly we can make it execute homebrew binaries without a PassMe. The firmware encryption has yet to be cracked. When this is done, we potentially only need to use the PassMe once to reprogram the firmware.

How big is the firmware?

I hope Nintendo/someone patches the DS firmware to have TRUE WiFi in Pictochat later on.
PS3: PAL Firmware 3.15
Wii: NTSC Firmware 4.1U
GC: NTSC Revision IPL 1.1 - Drive Model 04 2002/02 (61)
NDS: Pure White, FlashME v8a, EZF Advance 256Mbit + Supercard SD + Supercard DS one

Is the firmwire known to be upgradable though? That would certainly be sweet if it is.

So how's this work? I assume you need a wireless network card or something? Then your DS downloads whatever and such I guess.
