Eragon - Much better than you would think

So I haven't read the books, and I couldn't care less about the movie coming out, but this game is really cool. I thought I would give it a try because it was listed as an ARPG, and it's probably the best game I've played on the DS besides Castlevania DoS.

It's a 3D Action-Adventure game with a similar graphics engine to the Tomb Raider games on the PSX with real time sword based combat. The sword based attacks level up by gaining more moves in a combo series. You can also shoot arrows from a FPS perspective. Magic spells and item usage are stylus based. You draw a symbol that casts a spell, then throw it at the enemy. Very cool. Especially the spell that breaks all the enemy's bones.

I can't say this is a challenging game, the combat is actually pretty easy. I can't imagine it's going to take that long to finish either, but it sure is fun while it's lasting.

Anyway, I don't want to do a full review, but if you're looking for a good action-adventure game on the DS, check this one out. Don't shy away from it just because it's based on the books/movie.
