How to setup a hybrid 2.71/2.80 devhook

theres some talk of a hybrid devhook going around which fixes compatibility with some 2.8 games such as Thrillville, Yu-gi-oh, Asterix, and others untouched.. heres how to do it (and please note this is all done with an on the memory stick devhook, not flash):

Open up your pspbtcnf_game.txt and change the following lines:

/kd/memlmd.prx to /kd/memlmd_280.prx
/kd/mscm to /kd/mscm_280.prx
/kd/mesg_led.prx to /kd/mesg_led_280.prx
/kd/registry.prx to /kd/registry_280.prx
/kd/utility.prx to /kd/utility_280.prx
/kd/impose.prx to /kd/impose_280.prx

AFTER:

/kd/stdio.prx

ADD:

ms0:/dh/kd/plain2x.prx

(if its already there dont bother..)

Now obvisously the _280 prefixed modules are 2.8 modules.. you need to use DA's psarmod to get them (I used 2.81 eboot), make sure they are decrypted then rename them and add to kd folder.

wow has anyone tried this because I want to try this out myself and see if it works

i just finished decrypting the 2.80 fw, renamed the 6 prx files, added into the kd folder of fw 2.71 in devhook, and modified the pspbtcnf_game.txt file too..so im gonna test it with Thrillville to see if its working at 100%

hey can someone please upload there moded version of the files yall had to rename so I can use it please

we r not allowed to upload any sony copyrighted files here, this includes prx file and dumped firmwares...if u do it, u will get a ban..so u must do it yourself, and its not hard to do it

i just tested Thrillville and its working fine, with all the videos (fmv) and audio, no more freezing..untouched iso used... sweet...thnkx zshadow for this awesome find :P

can someone tell me where to put the mod at so that I can use it becuase I just downloaded the 2.81 eboot thing I really want to get this thing done before I go to bed because I want to play yugioh gx

can some one please post instructions on how to do all this not to familiar with changing things like this wont to play yugi untouched

Here's the instruction.

Step 1
Download Dark_Alex's psar dump mod with sigcheck from http://www.dark-alex.org/psardumpmodwithsigcheck.rar.
Unrar and copy psardumpmod and psardumpmod% to /PSP/GAME folder


Step 2
Use PBP Unpacker to extract DATA.PSAR from 2.80/2.81 firmware EBOOT.PBP and copy the DATA.PSAR to the root of your mem stick.

Step 3
Run psardumpmod. In the menu screen press the SQUARE button and it'll dump 2.80/2.81 firmware and decrypt all the files to your ms. All the files will be inside F0 folder.

Step 4
Goto F0 folder and rename memlmd.prx, mscm.prx, mesg_led.prx, registry.prx, utility.prx and impose.prx files to memlmd_280.prx, mesg_led_280.prx, registry_280.prx, utility_280.prx and impose_280.prx and copy them from F0/kd to dh/271/flash0/kd folder of your mem stick.

Step 5
Open pspbtcnf_game.txt file and edit accordingly to zshadow first post and save.


Step 6
Enjoy your hybrid 2.71/2.80 firmware with devhook.

I assume this also plays all older games no problem also???
