Meta Review: Star Fox Command for DS

The reviews are in for Star Fox Command on the DS, receiving a mixture of ratings, ranging in score from a 70 at 1UP, to a rather high of 95 at Nintendo Power. The vibe is that the game looks great for a DS title but the gameplay modes are too short and not extensive enough.

Here's what some of the gaming media are saying about this game title:

* 1UP, 7/10 - "Where the developers really missed the boat was in multiplayer. The standard combat arenas are all well and good, but that's pretty much all there is. None of the strategy elements that comprised the core of the single-player game are in multiplayer -- how cool would it have been to battle for strategic positions and race to key items on the overhead map against friends?."

* IGN, 8/10 - "Star Fox Command might offer a new and different experience, but along with some key gameplay and presentation elements the feel of the classic SNES game is intact. The stylus controls might still need some work but the core idea is sound, with accuracy and precision that previous Star Fox games - and air combat titles in general - just never offered before."

* Nintendo Power, 9.5/10 - "The combination of classic and new elements makes it the most wholly satisfying Star Fox game yet. [Oct. 2006, p.88]"

It seems that most reviews say that it's a good game that could've been better. IGN's review says that the time of the single player depends on how you approach the strategy part of the game.
