nope you don't need the older version, just get the newest and then install in.
I'm not sure about restoring it back. it think the program call noflashme or something. If you want to, install the stealth one. It will not change anything in the boot screen of the DS(That's what I'm using). So no one but you actually know that your DS is flash.

it has the default Health warning that shows up every time you turn on the DS.
the regular flashme gets rid of it.

In the first post there's a question how to check your current flashme version? So how do you do that?
Another question is, lets say i have v7 intalled, can i upgrade to stealth? Or how is it? When i flash my original ds lite, the original bios goes bye-bye kansas? And there's no way to get it back? Like it is brand new.
Also i don't have 4 levels of brightness on my new dslite after flashin to v7. Is it right?

Yes, if i'm not mistaken there's no problem in changing from normal V7 to stealth V7.
Yes, the original bios goes bye-bye, but supposedly you should be able to restore it using the noflashme, but i don't recommend as you may brick your DS and for the DS Lites i've read here on the forums that the pictochat just crashes. Just use the stealth V7 and no-one knows you'r running a modded DS.
There are 2 versions of flashme V7: the one for normal DS (no brightness control) and the one for Lite (with brightness control). There's a link on this forum on where to download it, but i can't find it. Search on the flashme board.
MaxConsole doesn't have it hosted for some reason i don't know.

You can check the version of flashme by running flashme installer. It will say what version you have.
To the topic creator, you don't need to uninstall to put on a new version, just run the installer again.
