Is 50-60fps Snes Emulation possible on the DS, with effort?

I'm wanting to buy a handheld. PSP sucks for games, and Sony sucks in general, especially with the **** they are pulling with the PS3. I'm hesitant to support them in any way. I'd rather spend my money with Nintendo (Innovation). The DS has some Incredible games; however, I'm worried about it's emulation capabilities. Will the DS ever be able to emulate the SNES well?

I see the PSP emulating Super Mario RPG at 40-50 fps, and that makes me drool. Is the DS capable of doing that? I'm wanting to buy a portable, but I just can't decide.

Or nix the portable all together. This has been asked one hundred times before. Any opinions? It seems as if the PSP scene has way more dedicated programmers and projects than does the DS, especially in emulation? Is it the fact that the DS is not capable of running these emus? What's going on? Could a guy run with Snes9x source, and with patience ever get full speed? It seems as if the DS's emulation capabilities as of right now, are pretty darn limited.

I would just rather get a DS. #1 its Nintendo. #2 I can think of at least 25-30 MUST have games compared to the Psp's 2. #3 It's cheaper, but also might be more expensive in the long run (M3+Pass+Memory) compared to PSP's (Memory). #4 EXTENSIVE previous library (GB/GBC/GBA). Thoughts?

ALSO: I am looking at getting a flashcart for my current GBASP which then I'll use if get a DS. The supercarts and M3's will do this correct? Which one would you recommend. I would rather not spend a whole lot of money. I'm looking at GBA rom backups and emulators for the time being on the GBASP, and then similar for the DS. Yes on the SuperCart? Does the Supercart suffer from slowdown anymore?

There are 2 SNES emulators right now that I know. SnesDS and SnezziDS
SnezziDS is the one that have the most compatibility. Right now the development is still in progress. There are glitches graphics, buggy sounds and the emulator itself still not complete. PSP have a lot more speed than DS, that's why it is easier port the emulator into PSP than DS, mainly because of speed. Maybe in the future DS will be able to run all snes games.
Even with M3 It is still cheaper than PSP. There are several Emulator that are run smoothly on GBA(there aren't many DS emulator development).
Those that are run smoothly : SMS,Game Gear,Gameboy (black/white),PCEngine
Those that are slowdown sometimes: Gameboy Color(some games are incompatible such as MMXtream MMXtream2 Beat-Mania Series)
DS Lite:Polar White
M3 Real with iTouch/Real/Sakura Multiboot

Sony PSP 1000 FW 5.00 M33
Sony PSP 2000 FW 5.00-4 M33
Sony PS3 FW 5.23

Sadly, the SNES emulation on the DS is lacking. If you don't want to support Sony directly, buy a PSP on eBay, at least you're not getting it from a retailer or some shop, which sends numbers to Sony.

If all you REALLY want is a portable emulator, then get the GP2x. http://www.gp2x.com/ http://www.gbax.com

They run on Linux and have dual 200MHz CPUs.

It's gotta be possible on the DS. I don't really want a PSP, except for the emulation.

Thinking of the TouchPad makes me giddy, especially with ScummVM.

Has anyone commented on the possibility of a port of Snes9x to the DS. If processes were doled out properly, could the DS do it? It doesn't even look like anyone has tried a Snes9x Port.

Side note: I think I'm gonna get an M3, the Supercard and EZFlash scare me in terms of compatibility. Don't wanna risk it. I want 100% GBA and most NDS.

I bought a DS LITE. YAY. Now I gotta decide on a flash cart. I'm steering 100% clear of anything supercard, because I like GBA games.

I can't decide between the EZ Flash 4 Micro (Flush = I like), or the M3 mini SD. It seems like the EZ Flash 4 Micro would be ok, compatibility on the DS looks good, but I haven't seen a GBA table yet. M3 doesn't have any micro sd options yet, and i really would like a flush option. Maybe the EZ Flash 4 is for me. Hmm.

I'm also going to look into SNES emulation. Maybe there is a way to port the Snes9x source to NDS. I've read 2 C++ books, and I still feel totally useless in terms of porting. I'm reading Drunken Coders NDS programming now. Who knows, maybe I'll port over Snes9x at 50fps..........when pigs fly.

SnezziDS already runs at that speed for most games that are compatible and now bubble2k and gladius are working on HDMA. HDMA will improve compatiblity vastly allowing great games such as Chrono Trigger to work near perfect.

As for porting over snes9x you may get high compat, but will never make high or good fps through software emulation.

Also From what I hear EZ4 doesn't have very high compat with hombrew yet so you may want to look into other cards before jumping to a new product.
