SylphAMP v0.01 - Winamp to DS Streamer

The creator of an IRC client for the DS called SylphIRC now brings to the DS scene something called SylphAMP which can be installed to Winamp as an output plug-in and sends the audio to your DS on the local network instead of your speakers! Very cool stuff indeed.

To use:

-Put the plugin (OUT_SylphAmp.dll) into your WinAmp plugins folder.
-Start WinAmp and choose SylphAMP as the output plugin. YOU SHOULD DO THIS BEFORE
BOOTING THE DS.
-Boot the NDS in any way you like.
-Wait for it to autoconnect to your AP. Hopefully.
-The program will prompt you for the IP of your PC. It had better be on the same
subnet as the DS or you're stuffed. Change the last IP component by holding down
Up/Down, or holding A/B to change quickly. Press START when you're done.
-The DS will now attempt to contact the PC.

If WinAmp is playing something, hopefully it's now streaming to the DS. Things you can do:

A = Play
B = Pause
Left/Right = Change track.
X = Stop.

Things That Don't Work:
Nearly everything. The following things definitely do not work and will cause things to go horribly wrong:

-Any source audio on the PC that's *not* in 44KHz/16bit/stereo.
-Two DSs trying to connect to the PC at once.
-Starting the DS *before* WinAmp is loaded with SylphAMP selected.

Things planned for future versions (high to low priority):

-Support input formats other than 44KHz/16bit/stereo
-Improve the horrific UI (ui? what ui?)
-Display the whole playlist on the DS
-Allow better IP/network configuration
-Get broadcasting working (detect the PC running SylphAMP automatically)
-Support multiple DSs connected at once
-Use multicasting? (does sgIP support this?)

Wow.. With progress continuing on a certain handful of these homebrew apps, one may not even need games to get good use out of their DS. Email, paint, streaming music, chat clients, organizers.. Plus hopeful eventualities such as web browsers (whether "official" or otherwise)

Definitely some kinks to work out, but I was way surprised.. Got a little bit of ghosting, as well.. If this concept was ever pushed to the level of getting winamp to broadcast over the internet, and you could connect to your home IP from any access point and access the music you just leave running at home.. wow.. I can't wait to see where the whole DS scene heads to.. so many great programs starting up.. I wish I could contribute

Great idea for a program. Shame its for winamp.. I use Foobar these days. Last time I checked winamp didnt support basic yet essential functions like replaygain. Winamp's playlist doesnt even allow a "order by artist" sort.
