PCSX2 v0.9 - Working PS2 Emulator for PC

Yes folks PCSX2 0.9 is here, by no means gracefully, but it is here! You can now enjoy PCSX2 0.9 a faster and more compatible PS2 emulator, it's been a year since 0.8.1 was released so you will see many dramatic changes! Don't expect a flawless piece of work and treat this as proof of concept for the time being.

The compatibility list at pcsx2.net has reports on 806 games! Pictured above is Tekken Tag running under the emulator.

Here is some more information gathered from the official website of this project hosted at pcsx2.net

Quote:
Many games are now going ingame, and some are even playable (check out games like Disgaea, or Silent Hill 4!)

On behalf of all the team I would like to say a big HELLO to linuzappz, and a large thankyou for everything he's done for us prior to him leaving the team!
Here is some background information on this PS2 emulator:

PCSX2 is a PlayStation 2 emulator for Windows and Linux, started by the same team that brought you PCSX (a Sony PlayStation 1 emulator).

The PCSX2 project attempts to allow PS2 code to be executed on your computer, thus meaning you can put a PS2 DVD or CD into your computers drive, and boot it up! Basically PCSX2 will let you play PS2 games on your PC.

The project has been running for a little over three years now, and since it's initial release has grown in compatibility. From initially just being able to run a few public domain demos, it's current state enables many games to boot and actually go in game, such as the 'famous' Final Fantasy X or Devil May Cry 3.

The PCSX2 project is Open Source (GPL) and keeps an active CVS (Concurrent Version System). We encourage geniune attempts to improve the code, in terms of compatibility, new features, optimisation, and encourage plugin authors to write graphics, sound, cdvd, controller plugins.

PCSX2 was initially started by shadow, linuzappz and saqib, but since then more coders have joined the team bringing their unique expertise with them. The development team now includes: refraction, florin, goldfinger, aumatt, loser and nachnbrenner.

Whilst PCSX2 is capable of playing 'backups' it is not the intention of the authors to provide a means to play illegaly copied games, infact it would be cheaper to buy a real PS2 at the moment, given PCSX2's system requirements. It is however the intention of the authors to let you play (once hardware is capable) PS2 games on your PC's, with the enhancements emulation allows, such as save-states, high resolution graphics, infinte memory cards, cross-region support etc.

PCSX2 is a 'free' program, that is made simply because the developers enjoy it as a hobby, and as a technical challenge. You are extremely lucky they let you play around with the WIP releases, and whilst we love feedback, and suggestions, the team owe you nothing, so don't whine for a new release, ask illegal questions (such as "Where can I find an ISO or BIOS?"), and don't complain if X or Y game doesn't work. This emulator is in the early stages of development, and is far from complete.

Download PCSX2 v0.9: here (Keep a check on the official web page for new setup builds, they are occuring frequently it seems)

Official Website: pcsx2.net (Please visit and support this project's website, it has lots of cool information on the emulator, screenshots and compatibility listings).

Well I just downloaded the pcsx2 new version and Tekken Tag Tournament still doesn't work. I do not know why. All it does is go to the ingame browser and configuration menu; thats it. Does anyone else have this problem?

Check back on the Emu site and make sure your configuration is correct, also check the Compat list.

Ive got the emu running, nothing great but still early days, plays most my games at a decent speed.

Well the config is set up correctly, but it still doesn't work. On the compatibility list Tekken Tag tournament is just ingame and not playable. But on this thread there is a screenshot of tekken tag being run on the emulator. So I have no idea what the problem is.

Ingame im sure means skipping the menu/intro's possibly, not sure how.

But anyways even if this emu did play it, if you havent got a top pc it wont play your games at a decent speed, even on mine it bitty.

This emu is far far from being of any use for ps2 emulation users.
