Recovering From the Xbox 360's Big Mistakes

Slashdot have a post which says "Two pieces up in the media right now talking about problems with the Xbox 360. Games.net has an overdramatically title piece, Five Ways to Save the Xbox 360. The article lays out ways in which Microsoft should revamp the console and its games in order to truly dominate the next-gen war. Meanwhile, a 1up editorial asks the question Is the Xbox 360 Hurting the Games Industry ?. The article looks at the ways in which Microsoft's console was rushed out the door, and the negative consequences that may have on the industry as a whole. From that article: 'More important, though less remarked upon, is that the Xbox 360 was also launched before the industry was ready. If you pay attention to companies' end-of-year financial reports, which I'm sad to say my job requires me to do, one thing that stands out in the postholiday reckoning was the statement, again and again, that the Xbox 360 launch had hurt sales across the industry.'

Uhuh. Looky here at the main reason I told people to wait on buying the xbox 360 until 3 or 4th gens come out. Look at the issues. There are not even enough games for the system to pay that much anyways. I knew there would be problems. Oh well, those spazmatic people who couldn't wait paid the price (ridiculous price)

i have no issues and im completely happy with my console. And that article is a bit bollocks. And it has the best launch line up of any console ever. People ***** about the smallest of things. I have not once had 1 game crash not once. I dont like gta and I know loads of people that don't like it either. 360 has quite a few MMO games in development. And the price tag is reasonable for nextgen games, ps3 games are gonna be far more expensive with blu ray costs. So all in all I delcare this article complete bollocks.

Best console launch? Yeah right. None of the launch titles were worthy except for PGR3.

and i suppose the ps2 had a better launch? what games did it have o yeah tekken 2 and..... well thats it. The 360 had call of duty 2, madden, pgr 3, need for speed most wanted, condemned and kameo. All these games i have purchased (except madden) and everyone of them has kept my attention which is pretty good because most games before that were really disappointing. You dont have to like the 360 but if u haven't played the games ur attempting to put down then u should really stop.

As for the launch games, it has nothing to do with their quality; they just have don't have enough of them (god, people and their bitching). Last, it doesn't matter if it's not happening to YOU, it's the overall consensus and evaluation. Why else would an article be written and posted here by Zeus? So as for the bullocks statement, if you can poll a 90-100% success with the millions of xbox 360 owners then you can give your 1.5 cents, not two.

lol well im not the only 1 with no problems all of my friends in the UK that have one have no issues. I cant comment on people in america etc. But here in the uk the fail rate seems pretty low. Suggesting failure is to do with power. Lol and therz loads of games for a launch. PS2 didnt have a good collection of games til like a year after launch. 360 is getting loads in march and april. So im not worried about a shortage of games. I have 3 games pgr3,pdz and dead or alive 4. And pgr3 is the only one I can say ive nearly done all of what there is to do on it.

what i dont get is ur assuming that 60% or more 360 have had failures but in reality less then 3% have had actual hardware failures, all the other people dont pay attention to the fact that the power supply is a power supply not an adapter. You wouldnt leave ur system in an unventilated space if the psu was still in the system so why would u with the seperate one. I know about 30 people with a 360 and there were a few that have in fact had lockups but once i told them what to do they havent had a single problem. Its funny out of all the other system launches the 360 had the fewest problems but people are just complaining because its not the system there waiting for. Dreamcast didnt play certain games at launch like blue stinger, ps2 didnt play many dvds and had most lasers die, psp in japan had the square button sticking issue that was a real high percent rate, psx systems started failing after just one month causing people to turn there systems on there back. If you dont like the 360 for whatever reason cool but until you are aware of the facts you really shouldnt put it down.

You're assuming that I'm a hater of xbox 360. Pffff, back off. As for the facts, I did not throw 60% out there, you did! I put down the ps2 too, especially since more than 4 gens of problems have occured. Sony sucked at that. All I'm trying to say is that people always spam buy the first day things come out and ***** about the problems that may accompany it. Just because you a moderator doesn't mean you can throw stats everywhere, or that you know all. Again, I reiterate, it's the spam buyers who get hit the hardest and are the most retarded. relax bro u dont need to get so heated. I was pointing out that the system among all other launches besides the original xbox was one with the least amount of problems. I wasnt throwing stats around saying u made the stats but examing the amount that would constitute a true problem with launch. Your first statement u say people should wait a few versions in before buying. I have the first vers xbox and ive modded it about 4 times changed the case and done other fun stuff with it and it couldnt run any better. Its not a war of words its a simple discussion so you dont have to take things so personally its just an opinion of one gamer to another thats all.

The problem with forums is that words get misconstrued. I was and still am disappointed, but by no means am I heated or angry. I caps because I make points, not scream like half the focking nubs around in forums.

just cause you think so doesnt mean everyone has to think that. i have a console and no problems whatsoever. i even like all the games that have come out except king kong

The launch games were decent for the most part but nothing great. Basically, all the EA games sucked, pgr is great, pdz is ok, and the rest is tolerable. Fight night is a great game, and graw comes out next week and oblivion a couple weeks after. By june or july we will have prey, gears of war, and many more promising games. I have no douts that there will be some really great games for the 360 this year. Also, the live integration go so far beyond the original xbox and anything sony has ever done, which is really what makes the system next gen. You can thro all the flashy graphics and cg cutscenes you want at me, the bottom line is if the games suck, what's the point? (psp I'm looking at you)
