Nintendo: High definition is important depending on the game's content

Nintendo seems to be thinking ahead with this though as not every game needs the HD polish.

Here we have a new nugget of information that indicates that Nintendo is going to go HD with the Wii. Company executives have noted that it it's all about being flexible depending on the game's content. For example, there is little point in making Pikmin in HD but other games may well be more suitable for such treatment.

Takeda - “If we can find out the most appropriate medium, between SD and HD, and flexibly move around them depending on the game's contents, it will be good, I think.”

Miyamoto - “Regarding the question of SD or HD, it must depend on each software. For example, we have to ask ourselves if HD is really necessary to develop Wii Fit. Won't HD be better for the games like Pikmin? The developers should choose the most appropriate graphical format depending on the software they make. To Nintendo, our theme is how we can prepare the SDK library to cater to the needs of the developers, with which the developers can more easily develop their games. In fact, Nintendo has been working with such mission.”

since everyone and their dog has a wii SD, it makes logical sense to put out an HD version. Itd the DSI LL but with consoles. Wii sales have pretty much dropped and will continue to drop now that everyone has one.

Wii is back to selling more than the PS3 and 360 combined most weeks now. No reason at all to launch anything new for a couple years.

How does; "For example, we have to ask ourselves if HD is really necessary to develop Wii Fit. Won't HD be better for the games like Pikmin?"

Turn into; "For example, there is little point in making Pikmin in HD but other games may well be more suitable for such treatment."?
