Question: Do gamers really want video on Xbox 360 and PS3?
Recently you may have seen Sony making a buzz about video on demand for the PS3. But The Guardian is currently wondering whether gamers actually care for video services on their consoles? Following their question, we wonder do you actually care or use any video on demand services from your console?

I have a Scaleo media centre PC which does the job a lot better than any console so the answer is no.
Xbox 360 : gui1e <-Launch day Legend dies 09/08/08 <- Resurected 18/08/2008 <RIP 29/09/08> Now an Elite owner.
PS3 (60gb): gui1e2008. Repaired any running!
PC1: 2.4ghz Quad Core + 4gb ram+ 8800GT +500gb HD = surf the net in style.
PC2: Scaleo 3.4ghz P4 media centre with blu ray.

Yes...but...
...I don't use the PSN Video Store. The prices are ridiculous. I use Playon for Hulu, Netflix, etc....it's probably 30% of my PS3 usage.

Yes but not what's on offer in the UK, Sky Player on the PC is always good for a movie or two but if i wasn't a Sky TV subscriber i wouldn't pay for it.
Movies on the consoles may interest me but the prices are outrageous id rather buy the DVD or Blu-Ray.

I love having Netflix on my 360. If I didn't have it, I would just use my laptop.

90% of my PS3's on-time is spent playing XVid movies for my daughter.
The other 10% of the time is spent playing PS2 games that I pick up for $10.
I do not play any PS3 games. $60 for a game is too expensive, especially when I could be playing *cough* portable systems for free.

I find it funny how xbox fanboys were making such a big deal that they had all these video services like netflix and shamed the ps3 because it doesn't have it. but now that it does have it, they want to say that it doesn't matter and who cares....kind of ironic to me.

not me... i say blu ray (over priced dvd`s) doesnt matter and streaming videos is da future!
Also ironic how sony fanboys said they dont want netflix... and sony saw microsoft have success with it so they copied it. now ps3 owners are like yeah this is cool. ....kind of ironic to me.

On demand videos always beat regular TV but it must also be free to gain any momentum. I will never pay a dime for any videos as long as P2P exists.
Besides, a decent 1080p video collection requires at least three 1,5 terabyte disks plus backups. A smart collection must not be bound to any hardware that can be outdated one day, therefore PC is the only way to go. So how about focusing your collection on a PS3/360 with 120GB space that will be outdated in three years?
People must not realize that PC can more quiet than a console and can be hooked up to a TV too. I can't believe the 0$ price for PC videos being the issue. Maybe it's the 1 hour delay for getting the latest Lost episode... If I lived in the states that would be the only reason for ever turning to a TV channel.
BTW I recommend a Samsung Full HD LCD TV to be used as the primary/only display for your living room PC. Samsung because it will behave just like a proper computer monitor. Oh, and Logitech diNovo Mini is a great keyboard if you don't want to use a table. I recommend a Logitech bluetooth mouse to be combined with diNovo's receiver.

I don't have a PS3 or a 360 but if I did, then the answer would be no. I use my computer to watch videos. I own a Wii and only use it to play games. I guess it's cool to have the option to stream on your console though.

I have learned with Divx on my computer that I can put like 5 or 6 decent quality DVD's on one disk!!! This makes for great disks like my Indiana Jones collection DVD hmmm so nice, and as soon as that new Terminator is out on DVD.
This is my main use for my PS3 and once I create the disk like that I can copy Divx files over to the PS3 (although I hardly do so since I can also stream them from my PC.)
I mostly watch movies and play demo's on the PS3 with a side of my old PS1 and PS2 games. I just recently picked up Road Rash for the PS1 and its fun as hell lol (just wish the load times where less) I own a few PS3 games and I plan on getting Tekkin 6 as soon as possible.
Streaming movies from Netflix or the like, my answer for me is no. I probably will never use that kind of service. My DVR from the cable company already does that.

The question is about people willing to PAY for legitimate movies, not freeloaders
