Golden Eye creators Rare hopeful of creating FPS for Natal

The developer behind the likes of Golden Eye and Perfect Dark has revealed that it is hopeful of creating a new FPS game with the new Project Natal technology. Sounds good!

Developer Rare has told MCV that it is "hopeful" of creating an FPS for new Xbox platform Project Natal.

The firm, best known for its work on GoldenEye, Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark told MCV that it is focused on Natal – which it saw as a "great opportunity".

“Right now our sights are trained on Natal, which is a great opportunity to break new ground with content and gameplay," said Rare's head of studio Mark Betteridge in our special look at the evolution of the FPS genre.

oh...so they save a classic for this piece of schit.

YEA!?..you want goldeneye!?....

good game you say!?!?!?

well TOO PHUCKING BAD!

its on Natal. So if u wanna play it. ya gotta buy Natal.

they are even saving the next REAL Halo. (ODST doesn't F$@&ing count...that was just a way to satisfy the halo fans while they work on Halo 4 (Halo Reach))

they could have released this normally...but they don't want to.
because they can use this game for leverage in selling this piece-of-mocked up-wii-technology-knock-off-copy-cat-cant-get-any-better-damn-ideas-for-themselves-cause-they-even-stole-the-Mii-look-with-M$-Avatars- NATAL.

MAY YOUR FATE BE TWISTED WITH THE VIRTUAL BOY.

I rarely reply to posts on here but yours was so insightful, I felt compelled. No where in the article does it mention anything even relating to releasing Goldeneye or Perfect Dark for Natal. Beyond that, the reason it hasn't been released already, is a battle between Microsoft and Nintendo. Your ability to draw ridiculous conclusions from an article talking about "breaking new ground, with new technology," is astounding. You almost seem clairvoyant!

I don't think that the company called "Rare" even has any of the people that worked there during the 90's when Rare games were actually good.

This is kinda like saying that the Beatles, made up completely of all new band members, are releasing a new album. Everyone will get excited, but the result just won't be the same.

I dont understand why there is such a double-standard...

Actually about half the team is still there, people like Botwood, Kirkhope and Farmer are all still here (Thats the lead artist, composer and project lead from goldeneye btw) for instance.

Half the team from Naughty Dog left either during or after Uncharted (including the two founding members, lead designer, etc) and no one batted an eye. Whats the difference?

Like most people, I really liked the old Rare games from the 90's. There just haven't been any that I've liked since. It's just my opinion I guess.

I used to get excited about new Rare games, but would never feel fulfilled when the games would be released.

Again this is my personal opinion:
I didn't like Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo, or Viva Pinata. I liked Conker L&R but it would have been better if it wasn't more censored then the original. Banjo-Kazooie B&N is pretty fun too.

Yea I guess its all a matter of opinion...I for instance loved Kameo and Viva Pinata but thought Perfect Dark Zero was just so-so and GbG and BK were absolute garbage.

Lightbulb I wish you people would give them a chance.........

So what if Micro$oft are stealing idea's from Nintendo with the Wii & Wi-Mote, that happens all the time, the main thing is that they are going to improve the technology, and so produce a better experience in Project Natal, and also its great to hear that Rare are making a proper update to GoldenEye, about time, and with this latest technology hopefully is going to be Awesome, imagine online multiplayer with everyone using Natal, very exciting times are ahead of us all.
Please people wait until Natal is released before slagging it off, and no i am not a fanboy, as i enjoy both XBOX360 & PS3, can't wait for the PS3's version of Natal as well.
I reckon that is the reason for the Wii 2 being created this quick to counter these new technologies from Micro$oft & Sony, because Nintendo are running scared.

If adding motion sensing is stealing tham isnt MS just stealing it back? After all they had the Sidewinder Freestyle Pro joystick on the market back in the 90's.

The team that developed Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are no longer a part of Rare, so, like pretty much everything out of Rare these days, this game will be garbage.

N64 Perfect Dark on Arcade should be beastly though.

Give it a chance mate, it may turn out to be the greatest FPS ever made, you just never know, i have followed Rare, even before they formed, and were known as "Ultimate Play the Game", even then, they produced hit after hit, i know what you are saying that half the team have left, but even still, they are a extremely talented team of coders, and are due a AAA title, so hopefully this one will be it. I think you have it the wrong way around there, others are running scared of Nintendo.

If you don't see that then you ain't got a clue.
