I new this day may come for the psp scene.
The story will go like this:
First we get advertisement before we can play.
Next we are expected to pay for cfw.
Then pretenders will come and try to convince us that we should be happy to pay and should have been paying all along.
Last, noobs will nod in agreement, pay and re-enforce the above model as the norm.
I know who would put an end to all foolishness very easily. D_A.

It's their custom firmware. No one made you install it. they can do whatever they want to it. End of story.

/kd/pegasus.prx is responsible for this. I'm trying to hex edit and see how it goes
EDIT: Okay I blanked out the text but that's the best I could do. My PSP boots okay, should be relatively safe because of recovery mode. Could someone with affected ISOs give this a try? I don't have a unpatched game right now.
IMPORTANT: Always backup the file you are replacing.

see this is where the newbies come in to make waves, but since you don't understand i'll inform yah. It ain't their firmware, they have not made any firmware of their own. So do not attempt to profit off something you have stolen.

Actually, I respect them a whole lot for doing something that I, and many other people, cannot do.
However, I do not need a constant reminder of what firmware I'm running and who made it because I am the one who installed their firmware and I know damn well who made this and what their website is.
I can understand if they added their names (and what have you) in the recovery menu, in the vsh menu. But something like this is unacceptable to me because I consider this intrusive and "in-your-face"

Then I assume DA should not profit as well, because he "stole" it from Sony? It wasn't his firmware, he didn't make any firmware of his own (he didn't create it from scratch, but reserved engineered it, meaning he needed a standard firmware). Why should his case be any different? Because he was the first? He did the exact same thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing anyone, it's just that I get the feeling that people seem to think that DA has the exclusive right to make a CFW. Since he didn't respect the copyright from Sony, why should anyone respect his?

D_A never try to profit. He never ask for donation either. It was the people around him that put up that crap website and nonsense donation thing up.
Go see if BOOSTER or HUMMA ever ask for a handout. Know before you talk crap.

You are correct about the donations, but I wasn't referring to that (hence I did not make a point about that , there are more forms of profit than just money... ), but to the other points made. If GEN wants to make profit, they are free to do so. Please check my post again, Stonercold.
