Xbox 360 Gets Trashed Once Again...

Another day, another negative article about the Xbox 360 goes online...Mercury news have a review of the Xbox 360 and Perfect Dark Zero...to say they were not impressed is an understatement.

Quote:
It is a good game, but it falls short of being great. It certainly isn't the next ``Halo,'' even though Microsoft originally billed it as the killer application for the Xbox 360. The game falls so far short of that mark it makes me wonder about the Xbox 360, which Sony derisively nicknamed Xbox 1.5. Is this really the best exclusive-launch game Microsoft itself could pull together to sell its new console? (As I've said before, the non-exclusive ``Call of Duty 2'' from Activision is saving the Xbox 360 right now.

``Perfect Dark Zero'' is the sequel to ``Perfect Dark,'' a modern-day shooting game that made its debut on the Nintendo 64 console five years ago and received a lot of praise as the best game to appear on that machine. Microsoft picked up the rights to the franchise when it acquired Rare, one of Nintendo's best game developers, in the fall of 2002. The team converted the title from GameCube to Xbox, and then once again to the Xbox 360. After all that time and investment, I expected a lot. But that lineage also explains why this game has a hard time breaking free from last generation.

Wow, okay.. did they play the game on a 19" SDTV? It looks fantastic on my HDTV... i've never seen a console FPS with such sharp textures and well done graphics.. maybe it's just me. Plus, Live play is a blast.

Let me say that review sucks big time. What about Pdz? I agre that the game didt give that such impressive but hey dont forget Kameo and Pgr3!
PGR3 are damn sexy and impressive on HDTV. And what about upcoming Gears of War? If they want to believe SOny's Xbox 1.5 so what?
Just wait and give it some month, wait for Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon and tell me then.

When launch at Ps2 I was not impressive but now game keep been better and better. It's always the same when new console release. It's not perfect right away. Dam I hate those review.

a voice crying in the wilderness

I don't think they were hard enough on perfect dark. There are glitches that I've ran into where enemies you can't see can shoot you through walls. The enemy just strafes back and forth, even in the first Perfect Dark they took shots at you from behind cover; Doom monsters are more challenging. Therein is another problem, even though the AI is stupid it's still very hard to target them because moving the targeting reticule is sluggish; they needed more time to tweak this. The graphics do look good as I played the game with the VGA adapter. At this rate I'll be selling my console on eBay soon. Call of Duty 2 gets so much praise but they even made that worse IMO. I do not think the graphics are anything to rave about and they took out leaning, which was one of the more strategic gameplay elements of the series in general. I can't see a good reason for not allowing the player to lean and this is something I have not seen mentioned on review sites. Call of Duty 2 Big Red One is the better game in the series; the game looks great, plays great, and you can lean.
