Meet the 80GB GameBoy, and it works!

_n30_ from Logic-Sunrise has performed a miraculous old sk00l Gameboy mod. He has managed to pack it with a fully working 80GB SATA hard drive. It's not capable of playing much except full set ROMS but it sure is an interesting mod!

Do all the roms ever made for the original gameboy even reach 10GB? if not 80GB is just silly and a waste, but interesting mod no doubt.

Still have my original gameboy.

some explanation as to how its done would probably help a little.

and wouldnt a CF or SD card be a wiser option? How does this thing even run with no batteries?
there are alot of idiots on this forum. myself included.

This looks interesting, could try replacing the GB mobo/screen with a GBC one.

Hi, i'm _n3o_
I just would like to be clear.
I think some people havn't correctly understood what this mod is.
THIS IS JUST A HARD DRIVE CASE ! ! !
I just have recycled my old broken GB to put an hard drive in it.
That's it that's all.
I've just removed the reflectiv film underthe screen and printed a modified background.
I have moved the hdd led to the old gb led position.
Changed the original link cable by an usb port.
that's all !
I have done that to have a realistic gb (HDD)case and not to fake anybody.
(it's why it have faked the fonctions (volume, headphone, screen, brightness, power ON/OFF, and power cable)

I repeat my firt aim was to make a nice oldschool 2,5" HDD case.

Maybe in the futur i'm gonna do another mod with 4GB USB key, a usb hub and an usb pad hack (like it was already done with a NES pad).

Sorry for those who understand that i've added 80GB to a GB :s (a simple MMC would be better than a 2,5" drive isn't it ?)

(and sorry for my very poor (and tired) english)

Between Zeus's post and your great work you had me fooled, thanks for clearing that up, once again nice work it does look really authentic.

OH! its a enclosure! kewl.. Would go great as a Wii external HDD

Although I don't trust plastic too much to protect the drive itself. I prefer metal enclosures.
