Well I don't think it costs that much, I know a fellow in India who just modded his 70006 for $12us dollars with a Matrix Infinity. He did say they are greedy there though.

As for your PS2 if you can't use fmcb 1.7 or don't wish to pay for it too be modded, then my only suggestion is to buy an older PS2, Or buy Swap Magic and the swap tools for it.

The only way I know of without a modchip is to use Swap Magic and a fliptop, or Swap Tools V3, or to install fmcb 1.7 and use ESR to play backups.

Tutorial to install fmcb 1.7 or have someone install it for you.

@ JayP
Ok I am not so sure fmcb 1.7 will work on the SCPH -9000X.

There are some that had motherboard revisions, and have a different bios than previous releases of the same model.

http://psx-scene.com/forums/ps2-gene...90001-a-2.html

So it may work and it may not depending upon which bios it has.

you get mod chips at delhi easily.
there are no fixed pricing though, some dealers who do mulitple mods are offering it Installed at approx 10USD others may charge some extra.

I've asked a friend to bring me one, lets see how much it costs.
