Clear explanation of Free McBoot...

I heard about this new booting system but none of the pages on the web describing this have done much more than give a short blurb about it without going into the details of its usefulness.

So could someone give me the straight answer: why is this better than going with Swap Magic and does it have all the same applications (in general)?

I stopped using my swap magic because of it (no more swapping). It is far easier to use ESR and Free Mcboot. I have my boot.elf set to ulanchelf, so you can launch any elf file you want from here or even use ESR to boot your patched backups. Here is a nice tutorial, http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials...all_guide.html

Ah, that patching thing. Do I need to do anything to any of my existing backup collection to make it work with this system?

EDIT: One more thing - if I wanted to get an SCPH-900xx series PS2, is this the best way to address backup and import games? Because there don't seem to be any mechanical mods for this series of PS2 (Ghost Clips, Magic Switch, whatever) so the only modification are hardware mods (modchips) and I don't really want to dabble into that.
