So I bought a brand new slim ps2 the other week and installed my magic keys to where the system will work even with flip top opened, the problem is I bought a swap magic 3.6 about a year and a half ago when I had my old ps2 and I've always had issues with the disk. I always thought it was just my laser on my old PS2 but now this is a brand new system with a brand new laser and I still have the same issue where it won't load the disk. It gets past the Playstation 2 loading screen then goes black and the disk stops spinning. If I hit X on my controller it moves the CD again then flashes the swap magic 3 screen for maybe half a second then goes blank again and after a few moments the disk stops spinning again.
I thought maybe I just wasn't getting video so I waited for the disk to stop spinning for the first time and tried to swap like you would to play your backup and you can see it doesn't work because the system is clearly having issues reading the burned backup. The CD will not spin for several moments then it will start to spin VERY VERY VERY slowly, stopping frequently. I thought maybe it was the size of the disk, but it's not. I compared the CD to a traditional PS2 CD and the size of both the center whole and the CD itself are identical. So it's the system not being able to read the CD that is causing it not to spin properly. Right now I'm at a loss. I don't want to spend another 20 bucks on a new swap magic disk on the gamble that it may or may not work. The magic keys are in properly and all that, just the stinking swap magic CD doesn't want to load properly. I don't have any idea why.
I don't know if maybe the CD was improperly created or what, but the CD itself says "Magic 3" "Version 3.6" Looks identical to the SwapMagic CDs with that one exception. It used to run my games just fine on my old PS2 however it would do this before also, I'd have to reset the machine and take the Swapmagic CD out and put it back in several times before it would eventually load. Problem is now I can't even get it to load properly doing that old method, it just doesn't load period now.
here is a picture of what my CD looks like, I took this picture about a year ago:
These are the CDs they gave me with my slide tool when I had the big version of the ps2.
