so if they reported Mario Kart on a flashcart would brick your ds using an older version of flashme, does that mean the mario kart release is out there already?
And what would happen if you try to launch mario kart ds with a normal passme?

I think it's just a problem with FlashME interfering with the WiFi things of Mario Kart so theay have changed it that you can play online.... So I think it's no big deal ^^'
But hey... what's this FlashME Stealth file? What's this for a version?
bLAH!

Someone got a hold of a pre-release copy (likely a official dev cart) of mario kart for review on one of the game sites/stores. No, they arent going to release it.
Mario Kart wrote over some of flashme in the firmware causing flashme'd DS's to become useful like a brick, this V5 is "more compressed" to not have an critical data in the areas the game wrote over. Apparently DS stores some wifi settings in the firmware when you first use the wireless demo or real cart.
The "stealth" version: it is the same, only it does not change the health screen when you turn on the ds. It acts like an origional DS but has all the ability of a flashme'd DS.

Since I've used a previous version of flashme (Actually, I had ahead games do it), will I have to bridge the SL1 contacts during the flash...?
Also, I would almost rather use the stealth version, so the bootup screen is still there... any danger in going from the 'non-stealth' version to the stealth one...?

Well, that was fun
I reflashed my DS with the new 'stealth' file. Went ahead and pressed XBXB, and realized I was gonna have to short it.. so after 5 minutes of freaking out and trying to find something to jam in there, as well as calming down enough to bridge the contacts, I finally got it.
Don't know if I want to try that again!

You have to bridge SL1 to upgrade to the new version, I hope you didn't have to pay ahead games for the previous flashing.

No problem there, altough I don't see why you would want to wait a few seconds and have to touch the screen each time you turn on your DS in normal mode, but that's up to you.

Yes... I paid them the first time I had flashme installed. But their service was actually pretty good, I think it took 8 days once it was shipped to get it back. I didn't have any method of booting the upgrade before anyway (No Passme or Wifime)
Oh well. Its done with now. Just glad I found out about it before trying Mario Kart!

Wait so you have to open your ds system to flash it? I thought you just need a passme and a gba flashcart with the flashme file on it?

I am confused. We are taking this ONE GUY'S word that Mario Kart DS bricks your DS if it's flashed with an older flashme? And someone somehow updated the FlashME to work with Mario Kart even though no one has the rom except for one guy on earth? Did I get that right? That doesn't make sense from MANY angles.

No I wasn't "bitter" at all (why would I be bitter?) I was just confused. I can't believe Nintendo is so anti piracy they are willing to destroy your DS over it.
I will flash it I guess when Mario Kart comes out. I am gonna be paranoid to put any new game on it without flashing a new update first!
(Also the flashme site doesn't say anything at all about a new version. Should we just update to the version that's there now?)
