Pandora won't work on my New PSP Slim??
Here's the case..
I have a newly bought PSP Slim but my "pandoras" won't work.
But it reads all my memory stick content on XMB...as i tried to save a game from UMD it works perfectly...music files eg .mp3 works fine.... video files eg .mp4 also do!

So my memory stick reader is fine i concluded... so what's keeping my Pandora not to work???
Curiosity strikes i open it upped!
hmnnn.. this looks new...
My first impression because the flex/ribbon were NOW tinted blue compared to its gray colored original...maybe a new production line..
But still a mystery why my any Pandora kit won't work.
..........maybe a new .ipl is needed to boot it up... the battery still puts it on the service mode / auto on!
Update....
I had removed TA-088 "new" CPU and put it on TA-085 mobo BUT STILL Pandora won't work!
So the culprit is not the Mobo...It is the NEW CPU!

Unit has 3.90 OFW.
Unit turns on automatically with Pandora battery.
LCD has no reaction even Pandora memstik is inserted..(not like the "old" case which LCD emits some backlight.

This is quoted from Mathieulh at the lan.st forums
hum... looks like they started changing syscon then, still the fact that you can provide us with the idstorage dump hashes of this psp fairly means that they the pandora still works (meaning that they still use the 0xFFFFFFFF serial batteries to trigger the service mode and that our forged block works just as well as it did on earlier models. This obviously means that they did not (or rather could not) change the cpu mask rom codes (they probably have a few thousands to use) The day they need a new batch of cpu is the day pandora stops working. (I hope not before the 03g model)

I am waiting for the pics of the house and the pics of the guy's face. Maybe i will travel some day to USA and i will stop over there, and the pics would guide me better to the target.

You somehow always run into these things
Are you getting any other LED activity besides power LED when you put the battery and stick in? Those LEDs were keyed to work in a specific way, if they do something (both light IIRC, then off, then MS flashes) then the IPL is loading (at least partially) off the MS without issues... then one can hope it is just a un-accounted for new revision of the power/lcd controller.
They did say recently they were doing something to try and curb piracy - I figured useless system updates weren't going to be what it was, maybe they finally fixed the bug exploited by pandora in the microcode that loads the IPL (which should be located in the CPU.) If so, then current custom firmware IPLs will not work on such a machine even if you did manage to install it to the flash chip.

Being the technician of most resellers here in the Philippines makes my hand always full of "defective" and "dead" PSPs ..hehehe

None at all just the power LED. Auto on function of Pandora still works.

Yup....as long as the ipl boots, FWs can never be secured by lousy FW updates!

So you're telling CFW can never be installed on the "new CPU"
btw heres the pic of the "new CPU" on TA-085 Mobo

If this is correct it looks like there is going to be a search for the next exploit to get it working on this motherboard...
This will be some fun times....again..lol

Just hoped that the new exploit will be found sooner or later (if this will be the case....)
It's for the new CPU ..hehehe
The NEW motherboard works fine with the "old" CPU!

Not at all the point, you seem to run into the "new" machine problems first is all... if I had to guess I'd bet you are reselling CFW PSP meaning some of your business relies on being able to get new machines that are installable

Nope, what I am saying is: pretty much every revision of CFW since pandora was released (since 1.50 became an addon as well) has relied on the bug that let them fake IPL block 0 and run their own IPL code at boot time. If the bug was fixed, then...

Have the part numbers (CXD...) changed at all from other TA-088 boards? I mean, it still says 2k7 on it.

You've seen more than one that does this? First I have heard of it... though that doesn't mean much (NA stocks deplete more slowly so it is usually a month or more before such hardware revisions seem to show up in our markets.)

@royginald
is it the newest release of psp slimline mobo? Sony did really change the mobo again to have pandora proof psp, so they have successfully done it, OMG, i hope someday some may crack this mobo for the newer psp users
