What is a WEP Key and how do i find out wat my key is?

Got a question...
First of all what is the WEP Key and also how do i find out what my key is?

A WEP key is a security code generated in your wireless router. You need this code in your PSP in order to connect to your security enabled, wireless network. If you log into your router you should be able to find it in the settings.

just type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 into your web browser and your login for your router will pop up from there you can find your wep key or you can turn the wep off so your psp will not need a wep key

cheers for that ppl...the only thing is that i am not in a "hotspot" area where i live to get on the internet..will that matter?

You cant use the PSP on a "hotspot" you have to buy a wireless router. Its a device that routes your internet connection to ethernet ports (to your pc) and it creates your own wireless access point. you wont be able to play your psp on-line untill you buy one of these and set yourself up correctly.

P.s I wouldnt recomend turning off your WEP security (like it says above) because this means that anyone will be able to connect to your wireless network

P.P.s if you have ADSL broadband you need a ADSL wireless modem router if you have a cable connection you just need a wireless router

i dont think wireless internet access on your psp is an option, seeing as you dont have a router, network adapters, or even broadband. you need all of those to do it.

Do I have to have my router plugged in to go to the IP Address? Because it's not plugged in, and when I go to the IP address, the site is 404 Error.

hey guys i cant get my wep key, i tried those to address that were posted and neither of them work, i am using a gateway (modem/router) but i know its still possible to log into it because i have seen it been done on my computer before, i don't remember what was entered tho.

lol, your the first person to post on this thread since 2005. BTW my WEP key was on a sticker on the bottom of my router
