[TUTORIAL] MCR to VMP without CWCheat using popsloader

I tried the following method on 3.90 M33 and it worked perfectly, i hope that it will work for everyone else too.

Requirements:
DAX's custom firmware, 3.90 M33 preferred.
Popsloader and any pops from 3.00 to 3.30 firmware, later wont work.

Before the start:
Make sure that popsloader is enabled.

Conversion process:
Use the attached MCR to dVMP application to convert your .mcr file to (dummy) VMP.
When it's done connect PSP to the PC and replace the original SCEVMC0.VMP with the one created by the application.

Disconnect PSP and start the game holding R button.
Select any pops from 3.00 to 3.30 firmware and start the game.

Your memorycard should be loaded now and you should be able to load the saves from it.

You will notice that the memorycard is in the old .DAT format.
If you want it back to VMP simply use pops from the flash or any other after the 3.40.

You should be more careful... Always make backups when you are messing with things you don't understand.

I've followed this method and it doesnt work. Firstly the FF7 eboot wont work under pops 3.00 to 3.30, works fine under 3.71. I just get a 80000004 error anyone know why?

multidisc eboot is not supported that low, use single discs

Any idea why we can't use this for pops newer than 3.30? I use pops 3.71 to play Final Fantasy VIII, and I would like to convert my tweaked .MCR file back to a .VMP I can use on the PSP. I have not had success getting cwcheat, FF8, and popsloader to behave properly together yet.

The latest CWCHEAT works on 4.01m33, and i can run popsloader, cwcheat and ff8 no problem. Make sure your pops.txt doesnt have any spaces after each plugin file location, they are invisible to click after the text to see if there is a space. Or perhaps an unneeded invisible line break.

CWcheat works wonders for swapping memory card saves. I'd wasted weeks trying to find a method to put the mcr files into vmp without using cwcheat.

im having this exact same problem, luckily i backed up to laptop before i did this, im running on 3.90m33-3 and it doesnt work, this is gonna drive me completely insane, ESPECIALLY seeing as NOBODY on this forum seems to be taking any notice of my posts

i am running Final Fantasy VII English Pal version on my psp on 3.90m33-3 and it freezes on the cutscene where Barret drops Dyne, i copied the ISO directly from my game cds which i have owned for years, i have tried every method i have found on the internet but it mostly seems to be people just saying 'oh, it works fine for me'

i cant get this converter to work, i cant get the injector to work, i cant get cwcheat to work, if anyone could give me a solution that works, i would be very greatful

or if anyone could tell me how to make copies of my cds that dont include the fmvs in that actually works aswell, the guides i have found on the internet, which were very hard to find in the first place, leave me with a game that just loads a black screen when i start it
