Konami Confirms MGS4 / 60GB PS3 Incompatability Issue!

As stated in this thread, I have been unable to install MGO on my 60GB PS3.

I called up Konami, and they said that this is a known issue with the 60GB PS3 and they are currently in an information gathering stage. Their advice was to either wait for a fix from them or return the game and try and get a working copy.

Obviously, it's not every PS3 or MGS4, but there are significant reports of it occurring.

It's not everyone. It's apparently related to a large batch of bad disks.

Go to any gaming website and you'll see posts about this. It's extremely frustrating.

I called up Konami, and I had to twist their arm to get them to RMA the damn thing.

I might just do the no-receipt-from-wal-mart thing and get an exchange that way.

Fine with my launch 60G PS3 as well. Can't you just exchange your copy with another one in the store before getting an RMA?

no problems at all with my launch 60gb unit either and my mgs4 was the limited edition version. i'm sure the only difference between mine and the standard version is the back cover on my mgs4 says 'not for resale', 'not for individual return or exchange'.

i'm sure the same discs were used in both versions, BLUS-30109

Working great on my launch 60GB. And who is this guy? Konami would most likely announce something if this were true. Your one of the first cases ii've seen of this being reported... I'm sure gaf would have had something about it way before someone on maxconsole if this was true.

Working over here too
There are many fanboys, yes. But there's such a thing as anti-fanboys too; those who love to dole out criticism on a popular and widely praised game, if only to place themselves at an "elite" level.

(I'm at Uni now, so if you add me to PSN I won't be able to accept)

You said MGO. Was that a typo, or is the issue related to the online game only? I have a 60GB unit (November 2006) and have had no problems installing and playing the main game (currently near the end of the second act.) but haven't tried MGO yet.
