360 is doing much, much better than the PS3 in Korea

During an interview at the Gstar international game expo in Seoul, Microsoft Korea spoke about relative next-gen marketshare in the country. Dae Hwan Lim, marketing coordinator for Microsoft Korea's entertainment & device division was unsure of the total units total units sold in South Korea but said some reports there indicated about 100,000. He said it was possible that they could pass sales in Japan but couldn't predict when. When pushed to compare relative next-gen marketshare, he said "Xbox 360 is doing much, much better (than the PS3). There’s a huge gap in market sales. I can’t mention other company’s numbers directly, but it’s multiples larger."

This is interesting, wouldn't have predicted this since I thought Japan and South Korea are not as different as, for example, Japan and North America. But okay, Korean are probably much more loyal because neither Sony nor Microsoft are Korean companies so they just care about games and stuff.

And before pulling out crap like "Launch doesn't matter, its total instal base", look at PS2, PSP, and DS sales. If that was the sole factor, those would be the primary systems to develope for.

The quicker you guys realize that the PS3 and the 360 are the same in many ways, the faster we can get back to playing games.

I'd have to say the ability to hack and pirate may be a big draw if the 360 is actually beating the ps3 there and just the price difference probs like 800 bucks for ps3 there and 360s like 500.
