Light MP3 v1.30 released - non battery draining PSP MP3 player
Sakya has released a new build of his simple MP3 player for the PSP which doesn't drain the battery too much while in use. With the display off, the battery should last for at least 11 hours! The new build adds equalizer settings and fixes several previous issues.
Changelog
-Added: Equalizers settings are now read from a file (look at equalizers)
-Fixed: volume boost is more precise (-20 Db / +20 Db)
-Fixed: with HOLD the analog was still working.
-Fixed: shuffle

I wonder if using M33 3.52-2 setting the CPU at 20MHZ will save even more battery life?

It may cripple the mp3 playback then. Just like you use mp3player 0.4f prx plugin. The sound becomes uh uh uh uh uh uh.

Hi,
20 Mhz on the PSP's main CPU is never enough to do normal quality MP3 decoding. I'd say 80-90 Mhz would probably already be critical or lower quality at least. Didn't test it yet but my guess is that around 90-120 Mhz would be the minimum on this CPU.

the screen switch off is not actually a screen off, just makes ll pixels black, the backlight is still on.. right?
Team C+D! own the scene. Dark_Alex keeps the scene alive! Booster! we need a new DevHook.

I am waiting for the pics of the house and the pics of the guy's face. Maybe i will travel some day to USA and i will stop over there, and the pics would guide me better to the target.

I don't think battery life is a big selling point on this one either. The built in music player does get about the same battery life under the same conditions (screen off, let the playlist roll), however the internal player has unimaginably poor support for m3u playlists that prevent it from being a very useful music player.
It seems like this homebrew app solves the m3u problem, but only supports mp3. Mp3 doesn't make very efficient use of a 4gb card. I end up keeping psp music at 96k wma. I'd use 128k aac but the tags aren't supported in the XMB.
The other formats should be doable. There are sample code snippets on ps2dev for using the internal decoders for the other formats with the exception of wma. Might need to roll your own wma decoder unless someone figures out the api.
