somebody should run benchmarks. 512MB of ram and all three cores. I imagine it would blow ps3 linux right out of the water. If you get gpu access then miles out of the water lol.

what a stupid comment.

Someone should make a benchmark using all seven Cores of the Cell and make good use of the extreme fast ram. I imagine it would blow xbox360 linux right out of the water.

Blabla.LoL.

erm no. Making something work on 3 cores is nothing like making something work on the spus. In other words if both had access and both where running generic programs. The 360 would run them faster. Also the ram on the ps3 is not extreme fast. Dont get me wrong its faster than the 360s, but please dont look at the clock speed and go woah its nearly 5 times faster. Because it isnt. Its around 8% faster I recon. Also double the memory is better than the 8% speed increase. No matter which way you look at it, sony using the more expensive XDR so they can slap a high clock speed on instead of using standard ram is the major reason why the ps3 is so bottlenecked.

Also the gpu on the ps3 is limited by its memory bandwidth which makes achieving 1080p rather difficult. Notice how bad ps3 is at doing AA? The 360 gpu on the other hand doesnt break a sweat doing 1080p what with that edram and all. If you dont believe me please look up the specs. Also note quite a number of developers stating 1080p is hard on ps3 when others have said edram makes it a doddle on the 360.

Anyway if you had two linux systems one 360 and one ps3 and ran a game on them. The 360 would wipe the floor with the ps3. Mainly because the gpu is better and the cpu is more generic so code will execute better on it.

Hdd access possible? If yes I have to buy xbox360 wanted to replace my htpc (p3 733, 128mb ram, 15gb hdd, wlan, t-online vision s100) with console. What about gpu access? Max resolution, acceleration? And ubuntu is great btw. But I suppose Ubuntu runs only as live-cd yet.
