Just wondered if its something simple they can detect.
Whats the easiest thing about flashed firmware?

It can be read easily after it has been unlocked, no power cycling. No tray half open, etc etc. Even a hitachi can be forced into mode b in the OS.

So in theory even a liteon could be read in software by MS after its modified.

Perhaps the ixtreme firmware is the victim of one of its greatest successes??

The wave check is another issue, clearly MS dont check its complete structure either or wave changes would not boot.

I beleive that they can't read the firmware directly. I think that they can tell by either the speed of the challenges/responses to the drive or that the repeated checks on live login don't show enough variation to be an original disk or could be a combination of both.

I thought the only way to read/write the firmware was vendor mode or something?

So unless there is some undocumented feature in OFW then I dont see how its possible except via little discrepancies somewhere.

a friend of mine is running ixtreme 1.4 non stealth... still going strong!

and for everyone saying MS DON'T or CAN'T or saying they CAN and ARE doing things and then being offensive to those that disagree need to shut up!

No-one except those at MS really know whats going on! So how can you say no they can't detect or they don't know this or that as you just don't know!

i don't dispute that all the modders/coders such as C4eva do good and very hard work... but at the end of the day all the firmwares we've had MS have shut down pretty quick too!

All this live logs **** tbh means nothing.... MS could ask for a the machine for question in the form of a test on the disc... at any time would take a milli second to do and it be done at a real random time... unless people have left thier machines logging for months on end continously?

EVERYTHING has a backdoor... if you made something regardless to what it is... would you not make a rather simple process to get into it (of course easy as you know how etc) and then access what you like?

how many of us have watched/streamed a film while connected to live.... most of us as we need to be signed in half the time - true or false?

it appears on you profile that your watching a film yeah? this gives MS sometimes up to 2hours to do as they wish to your box? if they can etc? How do we know?

As others have said other drives can be put into vender mode in a split second... maybe MS do have a backdoor so to speak... remember they have the drive keys so they have no need to probe or extract keys which isthe major headache really.... once we have those its peice of piss...

Now im no pro and don't claim to be, but i cant help but think why we can't simply make a 1 to 1 copy of game (backup etc) and then simply run it...

is it because it will appear as a DVD-ROM? and hence need to hide this?

Are DVD-DL fully blank? if so can someone create a burning software that burns the games as a 360 disc if you get what i mean?

just thoughts and seeking info etc...

For any of you who don't think Microsoft can read the firmware you are an idiot. Why do you think the best programmer/coder for this is making a new stealth version and checking it on multiple X-box accounts? Duh?

I was wondering how long it would be:

I am surprised that they didnt include the crippling of the HDD functions, etc.

Yes but who designed the console, we presume the way we get a drive in vendor mode is the only way.

Also whats to stop MS putting the drive in vendor mode during a reset / update.............to check.

It's the best option. Keep that one for offline, and maybe a ps3 for free online, you get the best of both worlds.

Had a run of "luck". Bought a ps3 slim with cod for £160 new. swapped for a jasper elite with codmw2 and forza.

Quickest banning ever lol will keep the other for offline play.

Not sure what drives in it though, should imagine its the latest unflashable liteons..............man date 09/2009, thats probably a good thing though as I will tinker lmao
