Activision hires online detective to take down Warfare 2 pirate

A pirate who advertised his services of Modern Warfare 2 and an Xbox 360 BEFORE the street launch of the game has been busted by Activision thanks to the help of an online detective they hired. Apparently the whole process took less than a week for him to become busted and those who commit piracy on a large scale have been sent a shocking warning.

“This kid was in a position to sell thousands of these,” Holmes said.

del amoPolice interrogated the runner, who led them to Del Amo’s home. They then arrested Del Amo yesterday (pictured right). Del Amo’s attorney has not returned a call for comment. The whole process, from finding the first tip to the bust, took less than a week. While the operation snagged a perpetrator, it didn’t move fast enough to prevent the massive copying of the game on the torrents on the Internet.

“Hopefully it is a lesson,” said Holmes. “If you try to do piracy on a large scale, you will get caught. When you use the Internet, you always leave tracks somewhere.”

Which is funny. They manage to catch "one" kid trying to sell "one" copy of the game but missed the 100,000 people downloading it. Money well spent.

Well Holmes, since you love to hand out lessons, allow me to reciprocate. Piracy is a noun and therefore cannot take an action. In short, you cannot do piracy. If you were to take the verb form then you could change your sentence to, "If you try to pirate on a large scale...". Hopefully it is a lesson Mr. Holmes.

they caught him selling one. they will never be able to stop people from leaking games all together, but atleast this douchebag got caught for it. might be an eye opener for all the stupid college students who do this **** everyday with people they dont know.

i say college students because most people who have a real job or a decent job dont need to sell bootlegged copies of games and make a business out of it at $5 a pop.
there are alot of idiots on this forum. myself included.

the truth, especially if you live in america, just isn't worth it.

all these fools who offer mod services on here are like from the uk or something, lucky them.

maybe they don't care as much over there.

At the same time there are thousands of other "kids" selling copies for "$5 a pop." Again, money well spent Activision.

Hail My Fuhrer!!!! LOL!

I don't feel sorry for this guy, I mean I do feel sorry that he's so stupid to go on the web and advertise his illegal services. Sure he could have advertised just the modding, but anyone that advertises the sale of backups on the net should be pitied for having the same IQ as a rock.
