Does that matter to the end user that they own those studios?
Fact is, that Sony has a larger amount of studios supporting them - that means more contents, and contents is a huge factor in this battle.
No it doesn't matter to the end user..but its fucking stupid to brag about an "achievement" when you own half the studios you have support from. If you look at the list of studios MS has compared to Sony's its the same list except sony is doing its best to lock MS out of the studios it owns. That might be fun and games for them now, but it could potentially bite them in the ass. What if MS in turn decided to lock them out of the Windows market on Sony PC's? Its kind of dangerous water to tread IMHO.
And actually though it doesn't matter at the moment in the future it well could...do you really want one company having the majority of control of media distribution from film production all the way to the TV screen? Thats kind of scary when you really think about it.
